Trolley is joining the Thunes Direct Global Network.

Founded in 2016, Thunes is a Singapore-based financial technology company that provides cross-border payment infrastructure for institutions and payment providers via its “Smart Superhighway” for money movement.

Trolley, a Canadian fintech upstart, says that joining Thunes’ network allows its business customers to make instant payments to more destinations, while using more preferred local methods than before.

“This integration offers the best of both worlds in terms of reach and reliability,” believes Trolley founder Tim Nixon.

The collaboration enables Trolley’s customers to avoid complex regional setups and send instant, compliant payouts worldwide.

“Trolley customers can access Thunes’ trusted and expansive Network while delivering on-demand pay to gig workers and creators exactly when and where they need it,” says Nixon.

Thunes’ Direct Global Network reaches 12 billion mobile wallets and bank accounts across 140 countries in 90 currencies.

“By tapping into Thunes’ infrastructure, we can now offer our customers unparalleled access to local wallets and payment rails that were previously difficult to reach,” Nixon remarked.

For businesses relying on freelancers and creators, the integration addresses a “last-mile” payment delivery challenge by enabling instant payouts to mobile wallets, which is described as a critical requirement for retaining talent in competitive markets, with 90% of gig workers prioritizing quick access to funds when choosing payout systems.

“Businesses today need to provide specialized, local payment options to attract and keep global talent,” says Kyle Rosen, Head of North America at Thunes.

“By welcoming Trolley into our Network, we are helping platforms deliver the payout flexibility and speed that modern recipients demand, anywhere in the world,” stated Rosen.

In 2024, Montreal’s Trolley raised more than $30M in a Series B round while also making the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 for the second time in a row.
