Siri AI brings deeper system access

According to Apple, Siri AI will replace the current Siri experience across major Apple devices. The new version will work across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro. Apple said Siri AI can use personal context to search messages, emails, photos, and other content. It can also complete tasks across apps through expanded systemwide actions. The company said its architecture protects user privacy while supporting these functions.

Siri AI can answer questions about content displayed on a user’s screen. It can also access the web to provide current information when needed. Apple said a dedicated Siri app will let users revisit previous conversations. The app will also allow users to begin new conversations from one location. Apple said iCloud will privately sync conversation history across devices.

Apple said the next Apple Intelligence release will support several daily app features. Photos will gain more tools for image editing. Safari will add features for browsing across multiple tabs. Messages and Mail will receive updates for communication tasks. Image Playground will also gain new creative functions under Apple Intelligence.

Parental controls add new child safety tools

Apple said the software releases will add more tools for parents managing child accounts. During setup, parents can choose which apps children can access. Parents can also control which apps get added later. Apple said age-based protections will apply across the system when parents create child accounts. Setup Assistant will guide parents through those choices during device setup.

Communication safety tools will also gain more controls. Parents can require approval before children add new contacts. Apple said the system can also intervene when explicit or violent content appears. The company said these tools help families manage communication and app access. Apple also redesigned Screen Time to make usage data easier to read.

New Screen Time features include daily limits across Entertainment, Games, and Social Media apps. Apple said the system can recommend daily allowances using guidance from clinical and child development experts. Parents can also use schedules to control app access at different times. Screen Time will show average device use and top apps. Apple also launched a dedicated website with family safety resources.

Software updates improve speed and design

Apple said the 2027 releases will improve speed across several devices and apps. The company said iPhone and iPad apps can launch up to 30% faster. Photos can load up to 70% faster after capture. AirDrop transfers can run up to 80% faster. Apple also said external drive browsing on iPad can run up to five times faster.

Search tools will also receive updates across Spotlight, Photos, and Mail. Apple said it rebuilt search to improve stability and efficiency. Mail will use a new ranking system to surface more relevant results. The company said network switching between cellular and Wi-Fi will also improve.
