Cisco reportedly explores Zafran Security acquisition

Cisco emerged as a potential buyer for Zafran Security, according to the report. The discussions reportedly place the cybersecurity startup’s value between $150 million and $200 million. However, Zafran rejected claims that it is negotiating a sale.

The company said Cisco completed a strategic investment that reflects confidence in its technology and business progress. Zafran stated that it plans to raise another major funding round. The company maintained that its commercial momentum remains strong.

The reported valuation stands below Zafran’s last private valuation from late 2025. During that funding round, the company raised $60 million and reached a valuation above $200 million. Overall, Zafran has secured more than $130 million since launching in 2022.

Founder exit adds fresh attention to Zafran’s growth

The reported acquisition talks surfaced shortly after co-founder and Chief Product Officer Snir Havdala left the company. He joined Nvidia as Director of Engineering to lead AI agent development for infrastructure platforms.Zafran said the leadership transition had been planned for several months.

The company appointed Vice President of Product Itay Nachum to lead the product organization. Furthermore, Zafran said the transition happened in coordination with company leadership. It also highlighted continued customer growth and expanding adoption across regulated industries.

Industry sources indicated that Zafran generated about $20 million in annual recurring revenue during the past year. However, reports suggested that revenue growth slowed after an early expansion period. Several competitors already operate in exposure management, including Palo Alto Networks, CrowdStrike, Microsoft, Tenable, Qualys and Cisco.

Cisco expands cybersecurity focus as CSCO stock eases

Zafran develops threat exposure management software across cloud, on-premises, and application environments. Its platform integrates with services from Amazon Web Services, Snyk, and Wiz. Moreover, the company recently promoted its platform as an alternative to Cisco’s discontinued Kenna vulnerability management service.

Cisco acquired Kenna Security in 2021 before later retiring the standalone service. Many of Kenna’s capabilities became part of Cisco’s broader cybersecurity portfolio through Splunk integration. Consequently, adding Zafran could strengthen Cisco’s exposure management offerings.

The reported discussions arrived as Cisco stock traded modestly lower at $111.60. Although the company has not confirmed any acquisition agreement, reports continue linking Cisco with Zafran. Meanwhile, the situation highlights continued consolidation across the cybersecurity sector as established technology companies seek stronger security capabilities.
