TL;DR:
- A pre-mine era wallet with 2,000 ETH moved after more than a decade without recording activity.
- The stored capital went from being worth $620 in 2015 to trading at around $3.79 million.
- The firm Bitmine added 7,430 ETH over the past week, reaching a total treasury of 5.78 million ETH.
After 11 years of inactivity, an ancient Ethereum wallet unexpectedly reactivated, capturing the attention of crypto market traders. The address, corresponding to the network’s pre-mine phase, held 2,000 ETH that had remained stationary since the protocol’s inception.
According to information reported by the on-chain tracking platform Whale Alert, the registered account made its initial contribution in 2015, a time when the accumulated tokens were worth just $620. At current trading levels, that balance reaches an estimated value of $3.79 million.

The detected movement represents the first awakening of a pre-mine address following a lull in June. According to Whale Alert records, the awakening of historical wallets has shown a consistent sequence during the early months of the year.
Last April, an address with 10,000 ETH recorded activity again after 10.8 years of inactivity, moving nearly $22.9 million at the time. Similarly, during the month of May, movements were observed in other old accounts with balances of 2,000 ETH, 790 ETH, and 400 ETH.

Institutional Accumulation and Market Context
This pattern of movement in ancient accounts is not limited to the Ethereum network. Reports from Whale Alert point out that two historical Bitcoin addresses holding 2,100 BTC and 500 BTC showed signs of life after remaining untouched for 13 and 12 years, respectively.
Parallel to the mobilization of these foundational addresses, demand from institutional players remains active in the ecosystem.
According to the report by Onchain Lens, the firm Bitmine acquired a total of 7,430 ETH over the past week. This operation raised the entity’s accumulated reserves to 5.78 million ETH.
Official documentation attributed to the company indicates that Bitmine holds 4.91 million ETH deposited in staking protocols. With this structure, the company’s Ether treasury reaches an approximate valuation of $10.9 billion, within an estimated total corporate balance sheet of $11.5 billion.
At the time of writing, the price of Ether stands above $1,900 per unit. The behavior of reactivated balances will continue to be monitored in upcoming on-chain data updates.
