CoinShares launched a UCITS platform aimed at Europe’s institutional investment market. CoinShares also introduced a Bitcoin mining ETF as its first product. The expansion targets pension funds, insurers, and private banks across Europe.

CoinShares Plans More Digital Asset Funds

CoinShares said many institutions cannot hold debt securities under existing mandates. Those restrictions also cover physically backed digital asset products. The UCITS wrapper provides an accepted fund structure instead.

UCITS funds can be marketed across the European Union under shared rules. Many institutions already permit these funds within their investment policies. CoinShares therefore gains access to a broader capital pool.

The platform uses a largely fixed operating cost base. Management expects this structure to support operating leverage. CoinShares also plans additional digital asset and thematic funds.

The Bitcoin Mining UCITS ETF began trading Tuesday on Deutsche Börse Xetra. It offers exposure to companies involved in Bitcoin mining. The fund became the platform’s first listed vehicle.

Jean-Marie Mognetti described the move as more than another product launch. “It marks our entry into the UCITS market,” he said. He cited the framework’s recognition among regulated fund markets.

CoinShares built the platform to efficiently support future launches. The structure reduces the need for major new operating costs. Later products may cover digital assets and related themes.

European expansion follows revenue growth

CoinShares reported 2025 revenue above $165.7 million. The figure appeared in its first annual report after listing stateside. CoinShares completed its Nasdaq market debut in April.

Its Nasdaq-listed shares closed Monday at $4.11. The stock fell 2.1% during that session. Tuesday’s announcement followed the decline without changing expansion plans.

CoinShares now enters UCITS markets with one active fund. The platform targets institutions requiring regulated and transferable investment structures. CoinShares plans further European launches through the same framework.
