Binance launched USDT-settled, European-style options trading on gold and silver on July 29, 2026, operating through its Abu Dhabi Global Market-regulated entity, Nest Exchange Limited, following what the exchange described as strong demand for its existing commodity perpetual futures.

How the Commodity Product Works

The contracts, listed under XAUUSDT and XAGUSDT, can only be exercised at expiry rather than at any earlier point, a design that limits speculative intraday activity and keeps pricing more predictable for both sides of a trade. Settlement is entirely in USDT, with no need to hold or deliver physical metal.

Binance is offering 1-day and 1-week expiries, with roughly 10 strikes available on daily contracts and about 12 on weekly contracts.

The product splits users into two distinct risk tiers: retail users can only buy call and put options, capping their maximum loss at the premium paid and removing liquidation risk entirely on those positions, while eligible institutional users and liquidity providers can write options to collect premiums upfront and run more sophisticated strategies that take on the obligation side of the contract.

Ledger

Trading follows the underlying commodity markets’ own hours, Sunday 6:00 PM to Friday 5:00 PM Eastern Time, with a one-hour daily pause.

For their promotion, Binance is also running a limited-time 0.000% maker fee and a 0.020% taker fee, starting July 29 at 10:00 UTC and continuing until further notice.

Shunyet Jan, Binance’s Head of Exchange and Trading, said: “We’ve seen strong demand for our commodity perpetuals since introducing them earlier this year, and commodity options build on that momentum. With gold hitting record highs and investors seeking inflation hedges outside traditional equities, Binance’s commodity options offer users additional compliant, crypto-native ways to diversify without leaving the platform.”

Binance said its gold perpetual futures have already reached a daily peak volume of $7.77 billion.

The Regulatory Angle

Binance describes itself as the first global crypto exchange to secure a comprehensive license under the Abu Dhabi Global Market framework, operating this specific product through Nest Exchange Limited, an FSRA-regulated exchange, with clearing handled by the separately regulated Nest Clearing and Custody Limited.

The launch extends a broader pattern of ADGM-based product building at Binance over the past year, following tokenized equities through bStocks and commodity perpetual futures, with KYC, KYB, and sanctions screening built into the offering.

By putting precious metals options under the same regulated roof as its crypto offerings, Binance is directly targeting traditional commodity traders.

Timing and Market Backdrop

Binance is launching this product during a volatile stretch for the metals market, with gold trading near record highs even as rising crude oil prices and growing odds of a Federal Reserve rate hike this week create competing pressure, since higher rates typically weigh on non-yielding assets like gold and silver.

What Comes Next

Binance said it plans to eventually expand its options offerings to include additional assets beyond gold and silver, without specifying which ones, and is providing educational content to help users manage the risks specific to options trading.

What this means for you: this product is structured with retail users in a long-only, capped-loss position while institutional traders take on the more complex, higher-risk side of writing contracts, so the practical relevance for most individual traders is a defined-risk way to express a view on gold or silver rather than a tool for generating premium income.
