What to know:

  • SUI surpassed $114.7 billion in year-to-date token volume, according to Artemis.
  • The network overtook Hyperliquid, NEAR, TON, and Monad in cumulative 2026 volume.
  • Perpetual DEX open interest rose 74.36% over 30 days to $12.45 million.

SUI has surpassed $114 billion in year-to-date (YTD) token volume, overtaking several major blockchain networks, according to data shared by the Sui Community and analytics platform Artemis.

At the same time, the network’s perpetual decentralized exchange (DEX) open interest climbed to a new high, reflecting increased participation from derivatives traders.

The latest figures place the blockchain network ahead of Hyperliquid, NEAR, TON, and Monad in cumulative 2026 token volume. While trading activity has accelerated, analysts note that sustained network growth will ultimately depend on developer adoption, liquidity, and continued user engagement across decentralized finance (DeFi) applications.

SUI Records $114 Billion YTD Volume Across Blockchain Network

According to Artemis data shared by the Sui Community, SUI reached approximately $114.7 billion in cumulative token volume through July 31, 2026. The network ranked behind only BNB in the published comparison, while surpassing Hyperliquid ($100.8 billion), NEAR ($57.2 billion), Avalanche ($56.1 billion), TON ($33 billion), and Monad ($16 billion).

The milestone reflects increasing transaction activity across the ecosystem rather than price performance alone. Higher token volume generally indicates greater movement of assets between users, decentralized applications, and liquidity protocols, making it an important indicator of blockchain utilization.

Open Interest Climbs 74% as Derivatives Activity Expands

The Sui Community also reported that perpetual DEX open interest reached $12.45 million, representing a 74.36% increase over the past 30 days. Rising open interest typically signals that more capital is entering derivatives markets, although it does not indicate whether traders are positioned for price gains or declines.

Growing derivatives participation often accompanies improving liquidity and deeper order books. However, elevated open interest can also increase market volatility if leveraged positions are rapidly liquidated during sharp price movements, making risk management increasingly important for traders.

Growing Ecosystem Supports Higher Network Activity in 2026

SUI’s rising transaction volume comes as Layer-1 blockchains continue competing for users, developers, and decentralized applications. Networks are increasingly measured by metrics such as active addresses, transaction volume, total value locked (TVL), and liquidity instead of token price alone.

The broader digital asset industry has also seen renewed institutional interest in scalable blockchain infrastructure capable of supporting payments, gaming, tokenized assets, and DeFi applications. Continued ecosystem development could help the blockchain network maintain its competitive position if network usage continues to expand beyond speculative trading.

What Higher Volume Means for Investors and Developers

For investors, higher network activity may indicate improving blockchain adoption, although transaction volume alone does not guarantee long-term value creation. Metrics such as developer growth, decentralized application adoption, and fee generation remain equally important when evaluating blockchain ecosystems.

For developers and businesses building on blockchain infrastructure, increasing liquidity and user activity can improve the attractiveness of launching new applications. Whether the blockchain network can sustain its current momentum will likely depend on continued ecosystem expansion, developer incentives, and broader market conditions during the second half of 2026.
