Nasdaq-listed Bitcoin mining company MARA Holdings has trimmed its massive Bitcoin treasury after selling 726 BTC.

According to updated data from BitcoinTreasuries.net, the transaction has reduced the company’s holdings to 35,577 BTC.

Undoubtedly, this is still impressive, but the company is no longer among the top 3 biggest corporate holders of the leading cryptocurrency.

The mining giant has now slipped to fourth place by total holdings after previously remaining in second place for a relatively long period of time. Based on BitcoinTreasuries.net data, its 35,577 BTC stash is valued at roughly $2.3 billion.

To the chagrin of Bitcoin holders, the company has spent much of the year using portions of its Bitcoin reserves to strengthen its balance sheet and boost liquidity.

Earlier this year, MARA sold more than 15,000 BTC to repurchase more than $1 billion of convertible debt at a discount.

BTC miners often liquidate a portion of their holdings. For instance, Riot sold roughly 3,778 BTC during Q1 2026. Core Scientific has reduced its treasury by nearly 2,000 BTC.
