The growing delay in the passage of the CLARITY Act has heightened anxieties among prominent figures in the cryptocurrency industry. Data shared today by market analyst BSCN showed that Michael Saylor’s is dissatisfied with the progress of the legislative bill. The crypto market structure bill is a US draft law being developed to establish a regulatory framework for digital assets, primarily by clarifying key market components.
Saylor Said America Needs Clarity, Not Bitcoin
According to data reported today by the analyst, the delayed passage of the CLARITY Act remains a concern for numerous stakeholders in the crypto market. Earlier today, Strategy founder Michael Saylor commented on X that Bitcoin doesn’t need the bill and instead stated it’s America that needs the CLARITY Act. His revelation came after the US Senate announced today that it would postpone a procedural vote on the CLARITY Bill, delaying the legislative enactment of a legal framework for cryptocurrencies and digital assets.
The Senate Majority Leader, John Thune, today stated that the vote will take place after lawmakers return from their August recess next month. As of today, August 7, the Senate lawmakers have commenced their recess and are expected to resume in mid-September, leaving them with several weeks to secure the 60 votes needed to pass the legislation.
Due to the continued delays of the long-awaited CLARITY Act, multiple crypto leaders have expressed their concerns. Today, Michael Saylor, the founder of Strategy Inc, posted on X, saying that Bitcoin doesn’t need the crypto bill to thrive, but said it’s America that needs the act.
US Risks Losing Its Grip as World Crypto Hub
The cryptocurrency industry has faced a renewed setback after the US Senate postponed a vote on the Clarity bill until mid-September. The main issue causing the delay is the unresolved ethical provisions in the bill, which implicate government officers, including the President and others, who operate or sponsor crypto assets. Such concerns have led Senate Democrats to shelve their support for the bill.
Some market analysts argue that if the US does not take decisive action to pass the bill on time, crypto activity will move beyond US law and eventually be powered by regulated foreign avenues. Vincent Chok, First Digital’s CEO, today commented that the Senate’s delayed vote on the bill could give Asia (China and Singapore) more time to solidify its position as a leading crypto hub worldwide.
He disclosed that the continued postponement of the bill leaves US institutions with unclear regulations on market structure, oversight, and custody. According to Chok, regulatory operations outside America continue without the Clarity Act’s timeline. The postponement gives regional economic hubs (such as China and Singapore) more time to showcase how their clearly, well-designed regulations promote innovation, leaving the US at risk of lagging behind.
