Elon Musk has once again made a new prediction about xAI’s new Grok 4.7 as he stated that this model will “exceed all current models.” The claim is part of a growing rivalry among three AI firms, xAI, OpenAI and Anthropic, as each strives to develop its own cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies.
Elon Musk Makes Bold Declaration For Upcoming Grok 4.7 Model
Elon Musk didn’t underestimate Anthropic’s advances. Rather, he declared the company to be a “great company” and said it will “probably release improved models soon.” Still, he believes Grok 4.7 will give a solid start in one area: real-world engineering.
The SpaceX CEO cited data that went into the model as an important benefit. The “SpaceX training corpus is so awesome & unique,” said Musk. He added that he would be “shocked” if another AI model were better than Grok 4.7 at real-world engineering.
The comments by Elon Musk come days after xAI has released Grok 4.6, the update of Grok 4.5. The release coincided with the need for a model to support longer-running agents, interactive tasks and more complex visual workloads, just over a month after the previous model’s release.
xAI stated that Grok 4.6 achieves frontier level intelligence on several benchmarks of agentic coding and knowledge-work. The model is also benchmarked against other models from OpenAI and Anthropic.
Review of the Latest Grok AI Model
Elon Musk replied to Cognition taking the spotlight in reviewing the latest model of Grok. The company wrote on X, “Grok 4.6 marks a significant improvement over Grok 4.5.” It stated that it was “surpassing GPT-5.6 Sol, behind only Opus 5 and Fable 5.”
When assessed on Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, Grok 4.6 scored a 60 whereas OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 Sol scored a 61. Fable 5 was leading by one point for Anthropic.
The model also scored top on the GDPVal-AA v2 and AA-Briefcase and Harvey LAB benchmarks. xAI has already launched Grok 4.6 via Grok Build, Cursor, Grok Bot and API.
Previously, Elon Musk has said that Grok 4.7 might arrive just weeks after the 4.6 release. It implies that the next generation model might be available as early as next month.
In the meantime, on August 12, SpaceX stock jumped 11.46% to $148.31 at press time, according to Yahoo! Finance. The stock spiked to a new share price intraday high of $148.91 off an open of $135.04.
