Google Expands Gemini App With New Connected Services

Google has announced a significant expansion of its Gemini app, integrating a new set of connected apps and services to enhance productivity, entertainment, and daily task management. The rollout, revealed on August 12, 2026, brings tools like Otter.ai, Wix, Ticketmaster, and Zocdoc directly into Gemini’s ecosystem, offering users a comprehensive, all-in-one platform for work and personal life.

The latest integrations span four categories:

• Productivity and creativity: Tools like Granola, Otter.ai, and Wix enable users to summarize meetings, edit websites, and manage projects seamlessly.
• Local and entertainment: Platforms such as Fever, Get Your Guide, Localiza, OpenTable (UK), and Ticketmaster simplify booking experiences, car rentals, and event reservations.
• Music: iHeartRadio and Pandora enhance the app with music streaming capabilities.
• Home, health, and lifestyle: Services like Angi, Thumbtack, and Zocdoc help users find home professionals or schedule doctor appointments.

This expansion builds on Google’s prior efforts to integrate connected apps into the Gemini platform. Earlier this year, the company added Workspace integrations, including Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar, and rolled out Spark-specific features like custom Model Context Protocol (MCP) for advanced personalization. The connected apps initiative began gaining momentum in mid-2025 with the addition of Canva, Dropbox, Instacart, and OpenTable.

Gemini’s growing ecosystem underscores Google’s strategy to position the app as a central hub for digital productivity and daily management. By including services across diverse categories—ranging from travel to healthcare—Google aims to deepen user engagement and drive adoption across multiple demographics.

However, availability remains device- and region-specific. For example, Google Help documentation highlights that connected apps like Spotify, YouTube Music, and WhatsApp may vary by country, account type, and even device brand. Android-exclusive integrations, such as Phone, Messages, and system utilities, remain available even when other features are disabled.

For users, the broader app ecosystem could reduce the need to toggle between platforms, saving time and streamlining tasks. From a competitive perspective, the move also places Gemini in direct competition with other productivity hubs like Microsoft Teams and Apple’s ecosystem of apps, though Google’s inclusion of third-party services differentiates its offering.

The rollout of new connected apps is expected to continue over the coming weeks, with updates automatically available for existing users. As Google enhances its feature set, the Gemini app is positioned to play a larger role in how users manage their personal and professional lives.
