The White House crypto meeting is expected to bring crypto and prediction market executives to Washington on Aug. 19. It comes as Polymarket traders place the CLARITY Act’s chance of becoming law in 2026 at 21%.

Politico reported the plans on Aug. 13, citing people familiar with the proposed gathering. The White House has not released an agenda or participant list. Executives from traditional finance companies could also attend.

Why the White House Crypto Meeting Matters for CLARITY

President Donald Trump’s attendance remains unclear. The White House crypto meeting has not received formal confirmation. It remains a reported plan rather than an announced presidential engagement.

The White House crypto meeting takes place at a time when the US Senate is on recess due to the month of August. The proposed CLARITY Act would regulate digital assets at the federal level. The regulation would be divided between the CFTC and SEC

Commodities in the spot market would be regulated by the CFTC. The securities would be regulated by the SEC. The regulation would also have federal registration provisions for crypto exchanges, brokers, and dealers.

The bill H.R. 3633 was passed in the US House of Representatives by a majority of 294-134 in July 2025. The bill passed the Senate Banking Committee in May 2026 by a 15-9 vote.

Legislative work resumes for senators on September 14. They require 60 votes to fend off a filibuster. The Republicans have 53 seats, so Democrats are necessary for the bill to move forward.

Negotiations continue over government ethics, stablecoin rewards, decentralized finance, and anti-money laundering rules. Republican Sen. Thom Tillis and Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego drafted a bipartisan ethics package.

Another point of dispute is the issue of stablecoin rewards. Financial institutions say that such rewards will attract deposits from normal banks. Crypto firms want transaction-based rewards to be kept on the platform.

Polymarket Keeps Passage Odds Near 21%

Polymarket valued the probability of the CLARITY Act passing in 2026 at 21% on Aug. 14. This was an increase from 17% recorded on the previous day. There was about $7 million worth of trading activity.

This is just the trader-expected probability and not an official prediction. It means that the contract will be fulfilled if H.R. 3633 becomes a law before January 1, 2027. It was at 82% in February until it sharply declined when there was a Senate delay.

The White House crypto meeting is irrelevant to the bill’s process. The senators have to sort out the disputed wording and get enough votes. An updated Senate version has to get the House of Representatives approval.

CFTC Meeting Follows One Day Later

The CFTC’s first Innovation Advisory Committee hearing will be held on Aug. 20. The open hearing is scheduled from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. Eastern Time in Washington.

Members will address issues related to crypto regulation, artificial intelligence, and prediction markets. From the released schedule, there is no item up for voting. This committee can only give recommendations and cannot make or enforce regulations.

Michael Selig, CFTC chair, has sponsored this committee. Members of this committee include entrepreneurs, academicians, and experts in the financial industry. The public can give written statements regarding the hearings until Aug. 27.
