Choosing the best crypto app in India in 2026 involves more than comparing the number of coins listed on an exchange. Indian traders also need to consider INR deposits and withdrawals, trading fees, available markets, liquidity, security controls, custody arrangements, and compliance requirements.

The choice can also change depending on whether a user wants to buy Bitcoin, build a long-term portfolio, trade altcoins, or access futures and options. With India applying tax and anti-money-laundering requirements to virtual digital assets (VDAs), the platform used to access the market has become an important part of the trading decision.

10 Crypto Apps Indian Traders Should Know

CoinDCX offers spot and futures markets and supports INR trading. Its current platform lists more than 500 crypto assets and provides INR bank transfers for deposits and withdrawals. CoinDCX also states that it is registered as a reporting entity with the Financial Intelligence Unit of India. Its published fee structure uses 30-day trading volume to determine different spot and futures fee levels.

CoinSwitch combines spot trading with futures and options. Its platform currently lists more than 400 cryptocurrencies, while its futures product includes BTC, ETH, and other assets with INR margins. CoinSwitch states that it is FIU-IND registered and provides INR deposits through its trading platform.

Mudrex provides spot crypto trading, recurring investment plans, and futures. Its platform states that it supports more than 650 cryptocurrencies and more than 500 futures pairs. Mudrex also states that it is registered with FIU-India and offers INR deposits and withdrawals.

ZebPay provides INR deposits and withdrawals, spot trading, and perpetual futures. Its published pricing page lists zero fees for INR deposits and a flat ₹15 fee for INR withdrawals. Spot trading fees vary according to the user’s 30-day trading volume, while futures use a separate maker-and-taker structure.

Giottus offers both spot and futures trading. Its published fee schedule calculates spot and futures fees according to rolling 30-day trading volume. For regular users, the current schedule lists 0.4% maker and taker fees for INR spot pairs, while futures fees use a separate structure.

Unocoin provides INR markets for assets including Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Litecoin, and XRP. Its published exchange fees list 0.2% maker fees and 0.3% taker fees for several INR markets. Unocoin also lists an inactive-account custodial fee of 0.0001 BTC per month, including GST.

Bitbns provides INR-based crypto trading and has also offered futures and margin trading. Its platform is therefore relevant to users comparing spot markets with more advanced trading products.

BuyUcoin supports INR funding and crypto trading through its mobile platform. Its published fee schedule states that deposits carry no BuyUcoin fee and lists a 0.24% maker/taker trading fee including GST.

WazirX provides spot crypto trading and lists more than 300 crypto assets. Its current fee information also references INR-market trading fees, while the platform identifies itself as FIU-registered.

Binance is another platform Indian users may encounter when comparing global crypto exchanges. However, its relevance to Indian traders should be assessed separately from domestic platforms because INR funding, product availability, and compliance arrangements can differ by jurisdiction and account type.

What Matters When Comparing a Crypto App in India?

The best crypto app in India depends on the function a trader needs. INR access can be important for users who want to move rupees into or out of a trading account. Fees become more significant for frequent traders because maker, taker, withdrawal, and other charges can affect transaction costs.

Token selection also changes the comparison. A platform offering hundreds of assets may provide more markets than an exchange focused on a smaller group of established cryptocurrencies. Traders looking beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum therefore need to check whether the specific tokens they want are supported.

Liquidity is another consideration for active traders. Higher trading activity can make it easier to execute larger orders, while lower liquidity can affect the price at which an order fills. Published fees alone therefore do not provide a complete picture of trading costs.

Beginners and Active Traders Have Different Needs

For beginners, the main comparison points can be INR funding, basic spot trading, account setup, and the clarity of the trading interface. A user who only wants to buy and hold Bitcoin or Ethereum does not necessarily require futures, options, or advanced order types.

Active traders face a different set of requirements. They may need detailed charts, different order types, futures markets, options, API access, or fee structures linked to trading volume. CoinSwitch, CoinDCX, Mudrex, ZebPay and Giottus all publish information covering advanced trading products, although the specific markets and fee structures differ.

Crypto Futures and Options Require a Separate Check

Derivatives should not be treated as an extension of ordinary spot investing. Futures can involve leverage, while options introduce additional factors such as expiration dates, premiums, and implied volatility.

Several platforms in this comparison provide derivatives. CoinSwitch lists futures and options with INR trading, while CoinDCX, Mudrex, ZebPay and Giottus publish futures products.

The presence of these products does not determine whether they are appropriate for an individual user. Traders need to understand margin requirements, funding costs, liquidation rules, and the potential for losses before using leveraged products.

India does not currently operate a single comprehensive crypto licensing regime. Instead, VDA activity falls under taxation and anti-money-laundering frameworks, with FIU-IND playing a central role in the reporting framework for VDA service providers.

FIU-IND’s rules cover activities including exchanges between VDAs and fiat currencies, exchanges between different VDAs, VDA transfers, and the safekeeping or administration of VDAs.

FIU-IND registration should not be substituted with a government guarantee or endorsement of an exchange. It means registration within the applicable reporting framework. The distinction matters because compliance status and investment protection are separate issues.

FIU-IND has also taken enforcement action involving crypto businesses. Its published compliance orders include cases involving Binance, Bybit, KuCoin, and Coinbase India, showing why users should check a platform’s current regulatory position rather than rely only on its brand recognition.

Taxes and Deposits Should Be Checked Before Trading

Indian users should review the tax treatment of VDAs before making transactions. Section 194S covers TDS on transfers of VDAs, and the Income Tax Department continues to provide specific reporting procedures for such transactions.

For transactions occurring on or after April 1, 2026, the department states that the new tax framework uses Form 141 for specified TDS statements, including transfers of VDAs. Users should therefore check the platform’s INR deposit and withdrawal rules, trading fees, withdrawal limits, custody arrangements, security information, and tax records before transferring funds.

Which Crypto App Fits Each Indian Trader?

There is no single platform that fits every trading requirement. Beginners can focus on simple INR deposits and basic spot purchases. Long-term investors can prioritize spot functionality and recurring investment features.

Active traders can compare liquidity, execution, trading tools, and volume-based fees. Altcoin traders can examine the number and type of supported assets. Derivatives traders should separately examine futures and options, leverage, margin, and liquidation rules.
