Bitcoin is heading into a closely watched week as President Donald Trump is expected to join a White House meeting with executives from leading crypto and prediction-market companies.
The Aug. 19 meeting is expected to include leaders from Coinbase, Ripple, Robinhood, Polymarket and Kalshi, along with SEC Chairman Paul Atkins and CFTC Chairman Michael Selig. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick may also attend.
The meeting comes as Bitcoin struggles near $60,000, about half its value from its October peak. Trump’s expected appearance could give investors a clearer view of the administration’s approach to crypto regulation.
White House Meeting Gains Urgency
The talks come a day before the CFTC holds its first Innovation Advisory Committee meeting, where officials will discuss the future of crypto regulation and gaps in the current framework.

The stalled CLARITY Act is also expected to remain a key issue. Senate Majority Leader John Thune has scheduled a procedural vote for Sept. 15. The bill needs 60 votes to advance.
Prediction Markets Face Pressure
Prediction markets face growing legal pressure. Selig has argued that the CFTC has exclusive authority over event contracts, while Baltimore has sued Kalshi and Polymarket over sports contracts.
A Washington court has also ordered Kalshi to halt some offerings. Meanwhile, analyst Andreja Cobeljic sees resistance for Bitcoin around $67,000 to $70,000.
