Kraken has opened US stock trading to eligible customers across the European Economic Area. Investors can now manage traditional shares, tokenized xStocks, and crypto assets through one regulated account and trading interface on its platform.
Kraken announced the expansion on August 18 after starting the rollout in Germany, France, and the Netherlands. The service is now available to eligible customers across all EEA member countries through Kraken Pro’s app and website.

How Kraken Offers US Stocks Across the EEA
Users can access more than 7,000 US-listed stocks, over 700 xStocks, and around 600 crypto assets through the platform. The exchange said no other crypto platform in the EEA offers both traditional US shares and their tokenized versions in one trading environment.
Traditional shares and xStocks appear side by side, giving customers two ways to gain exposure to the same underlying companies. Payward Chief Commercial Officer Mark Greenberg said clients can switch between the formats without moving funds to another platform.
Payward Europe Digital Solutions (CY), which is an authorized MiFID investment firm, is the provider of the stock service. Kraken is not going to charge any commission on US stock trading, but spreads, currency conversion costs, and other fees may still apply.
According to the company, accessing US stocks for Europeans used to be an expensive, complicated, and fragmented process for investors. In this way, the new service offers a combination of US stocks and digital assets that are available via the same wallet.
Why Kraken Added xStocks as Trading Collateral
The total trading volume from xStocks exceeds $38 billion after the product’s launch. Additionally, Kraken also built dedicated onchain infrastructure for the product earlier in 2026, expanding the technical foundation supporting tokenized equity trading.
The company introduced xChange in March as an execution layer for its tokenized stock service. It initially supported more than 70 tokenized equities across the Ethereum and Solana networks.
In July, eligible users were allowed to use selected xStocks as collateral for futures and margin trades on Kraken Pro. The eligible xStocks include those of Apple, Nvidia, Tesla, Strategy, Robinhood, SPDR S&P 500 ETF, and Invesco QQQ ETF, among ten others.
Eligible clients outside the United States, including those in the EEA, could use xStocks as futures collateral. Margin collateral was also available outside the US, but EEA clients were excluded from that service.
What Drives Kraken’s Multi-Asset Expansion
A new in-app call verification system has been added to the platform by the company to counter impersonation scams where customers contact individuals claiming to be support agents.
The launch of the new service coincides with an increase in the availability of traditional financial products by regulated digital asset platforms in Europe.
Coinbase recently launched various derivatives, such as crypto futures, perpetuals, and options, for professional UK traders after obtaining relevant authorization from the FCA.
The expansion brings US stocks, tokenized stocks, and cryptocurrencies being offered together as European regulations become stricter.
This expansion bolsters the exchange’s multi-asset approach, offering access to multiple markets for its eligible regional clients via one platform.
