Ripple-promoted XRP may be gearing up for a major move against Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH). Analyst Dark Defender says the XRP-ETH pair could be putting the finishing touches on its Wave 4 correction, potentially setting the stage for a powerful Wave 5 move that could thrust XRP into the crypto spotlight.
This comes as Ripple has added Jeonbuk Bank to its growing list of Korean partners, with the regional lender becoming the first in the country to use Ripple Payments for cross-border remittances.
XRP-ETH Signal: Why Pundit Foresees XRP Could Soon Challenge BTC and ETH
A widely followed crypto analyst going by the online moniker Dark Defender has drawn attention to the XRP-ETH pair, describing XRP as “on the taxiway” and hinting that the token could be prepping for its next big takeoff.
Dark Defender expects Ether to have some near-term upside. But once that move plays out, he sees XRP taking center stage, forecasting the payments-focused token could eventually overtake both BTC and ETH in the race for market dominance.
The pundit’s captioned chart places the XRP-ETH pair in Wave 4 of the Elliott Wave structure, suggesting the market is currently in a corrective phase. If the pattern holds, this pullback could pave the way for another potential leg higher for XRP.

XRP briefly dipped below the closely watched $1 threshold earlier today before recovering, with the token trading at $1 at press time, according to CoinGecko data.
If Dark Defender’s forecast unfolds as expected, XRP could leave Ethereum in the dust when the next major crypto market rotation begins.
Jeonbuk Bank Adopts Ripple Payments to Enable Near-Instant Cross-Border Transfers
Meanwhile, Ripple is expanding its footprint in South Korea after teaming up with Jeonbuk Bank, which has become the country’s first regional bank to roll out Ripple Payments for cross-border transactions.
In an August 18 announcement, Ripple said its payment solution will help Jeonbuk Bank replace “multi-day SWIFT transfers with near real-time, 24/7 cross-border settlement.”
Fiona Murray, Ripple’s Asia Pacific managing director, said in a statement the partnership highlights the growing appetite for blockchain-powered payments among Korean financial institutions.
While the announcement does not confirm that XRP itself will be used to settle Jeonbuk Bank’s transactions, the news quickly sparked bullish reactions on the X social media site. One user summed up the sentiment bluntly:
“So it begins. XRP WILL FLIP BTC.”
The Jeonbuk Bank deal marks Ripple’s third major partnership in South Korea this year. Kyobo Life Insurance is exploring tokenized government-bond settlements through Ripple Custody, while digital lender Kbank is rolling out infrastructure designed for institutional crypto wallets.
Put together, these deals give San Francisco-based Ripple a growing presence across payments, custody, and digital-asset infrastructure— strengthening its foothold in one of Asia’s hottest crypto markets.
