Nipsey Hussle’s new posthumous album ‘Prolific’ brings the rapper back to multiple Billboard charts, and it’s his first hit on the Top Streaming Albums list. Nipsey Hussle died more than seven years ago, but this week, the rapper returns to the Billboard charts with new music. Prolific, a posthumous full-length created with fellow musician Bino Rideaux, arrives on a number of rankings at once.
The full-length debuts on half a dozen rankings, bringing Hussle back to several tallies for only the second time. Prolific even earns the Grammy winner his first placement on a roster that did not exist during his lifetime.
Nipsey Hussle Debuts on the Top Streaming Albums Chart
Prolific just barely breaks into the top 40 on the Top Streaming Albums chart, as it starts its time on the tally at No. 40. The list measures which albums and EPs rack up the most streams throughout the United States, and neither Hussle nor Rideaux had reached the relatively new ranking before this week.
Four Albums Debut on the Streaming Roster This Week
Only four titles debut on the Top Streaming Albums tally this week. Phoebe Bridgers scores the loftiest entry as her latest set Lost Weekend – her first on her own in more than half a decade – arrives at No. 7. Grammy-nominated group Katseye launches its Wild EP at No. 19. That project is the No. 1 album in America, but its shorter track list may have worked against it on a ranking devoted exclusively to streaming. Hussle and Rideaux score the third-highest debut, while Trippie Redd’s NDA follows at No. 43.
Nipsey Hussle Scores Four Top 10 Starts on the Charts
Prolific opens inside the top 10 on four of the half-dozen Billboard charts where it debuts this week. The collaborative collection starts at No. 4 on the Top Rap Albums list, No. 6 on the Top Album Sales ranking and No. 8 on both the Vinyl Albums and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums tallies. On all four lists, Prolific becomes Hussle’s second top 10 win.
Prolific Nearly Reaches the Billboard 200’s Top 20
Prolific only fails to reach the top 10 on the Top Streaming Albums chart and the Billboard 200, the ranking of the most-consumed collections of any length or style in the United States, which incorporates both sales and streaming activity. The album launches at No. 21 on the latter rundown.
Prolific trails Hussle’s Victory Lap, which remains his highest-charting release on nearly every roster where both projects have appeared. That album conquered several rankings and missed out on ruling the Billboard 200 by only one rung. Prolific does outperform Crenshaw, which reached a No. 63 high on the Billboard 200 in April 2019 following Hussle’s murder.
Nipsey Hussle Scores a New Hit Song
One track featured on Prolific becomes a Billboard hit as well this time around. Hussle and Rideaux debut “500 Horses” at No. 20 on the Hot Rap Songs chart and No. 29 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs ranking. The collaboration gives Hussle his sixth career placement on the rap-only tally, while he has collected more than twice as many on the broader R&B and hip-hop roster, where “500 Horses” becomes his lucky thirteenth hit.
