The Coinbase partnership with Webull has expanded into Canada, adding a fourth market to their crypto infrastructure agreement. Webull Canada will use Coinbase’s Crypto-as-a-Service (CryptoaaS) platform for digital asset trading and custody while keeping customers inside its existing investment platform.

The agreement extends a setup already used in the United States, Brazil, and Australia. Coinbase will provide liquidity, custody, and trading infrastructure behind Webull’s Canadian crypto service.

What the Coinbase Partnership Brings to Webull Canada

Webull will have the management of the user interface. The firm will not require developing another system to offer cryptocurrency trading and custody services to its customers.

According to Michael Constantino, the CEO of Webull Canada, the Canadian investors are interested in gaining access to different assets. The demand for cryptos has been growing over time.

Michael Constantino stated that Coinbase offers the required scalability and reliability for the service provision.

Webull Canada has been planning on launching the crypto trading once the approval is received. In June, the company stated that its crypto service will enable 24-hour trading of various popular cryptocurrencies.

Some of these included Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, Cardano, and Litecoin. Testing would start out by using selected customers.

Users would have the ability to fund their account, monitor portfolios, get reports, and trade digital assets via Webull’s platform. Coinbase would be responsible for the technical back-end of the aforementioned functions.

Webull Canada Crypto Limited is regulated by the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization under the category of investment dealers. It runs on an order execution-only basis.

In other words, customers decide on what investments they want to make. Portfolio suggestions are not provided by Webull on the platform.

Canadian Crypto Ownership Reaches 25%

Coinbase mentioned the Ontario Securities Commission’s 2025 crypto asset survey as part of its market context. The survey revealed that 25% of Canadians invested in crypto assets or crypto funds.

This was compared to 10% in 2023. The share of crypto assets among investors was estimated at 39%.

In addition, the regulator noted that about 30% of Canadians have ever had crypto assets. About 74% of owners now hold cryptocurrency via the exchange or any other platform.

The regulator also pointed out certain gaps in investor knowledge. Some investors did not understand what kind of protection can be offered in connection with crypto accounts and associated risks.

Webull Securities Canada is a member of the Canadian Investor Protection Fund. Crypto assets are not included in this coverage.

Eligible cash in the crypto account can be protected within the relevant limitations. This does not cover crypto losses and trading losses.

Where Else Does the Coinbase Partnership Operate?

Coinbase’s infrastructure for Webull crypto products was already available in the United States, Brazil, and Australia before Canada. According to Coinbase, Webull made the choice depending on liquidity, price, custody, asset selection, and geographical presence.

Webull provides licensed brokerage operations in 16 countries. In June, the company announced that it had over 27 million users registered globally.

Canadian brokerage services offer securities from Canada and the United States, exchange-traded funds, and options. In addition, it offers cash accounts, margin trading, tax-free savings accounts, and retirement plan accounts.

The move to Canada takes place in conjunction with expansion by Coinbase itself. At the start of August, the company started offering access to close to 4,000 U.S. stocks for qualified customers in the UK.

In addition, Coinbase is offering stock tokens on Base for qualified non-U.S. customers. Stock token products offer exposure to Nvidia, Meta, Apple, and Alphabet stocks.

Europe-wise, Coinbase operates through its base in Luxembourg under Markets in Crypto Assets regulation. The authorization covers provision of crypto services in all 27 European Union member states.
