The $875 billion AUM Wall Street giant significantly increased direct holdings and call positions on several US-listed XRP exchange-traded funds. The hedge fund joined other big institutions building exposure across multiple XRP exchange-traded funds.

In direct holdings, Ken Griffin’s Citadel revealed 215,639 shares in REX-Osprey XRP ETF (XRPR) and 54,438 units in Volatility Shares Trust XRP ETF (XRPI).

The sharpest move came in Volatility Shares’ 2x XRP ETF (XRPT). Citadel Advisors’ reported call position jumped 764% from 9,040 contracts in Q1 to 78,075 worth $1.70 million in Q2.

Other call positions include 79,500 contracts in Canary XRP ETF (XRPC), new 54,500 contract positions in Franklin XRP Trust (XRPZ), 46,200 in Bitwise XRP ETF, and 15,350 contracts in Teucrium 2x XRP ETF.

This reflects the hedge fund going bullish on XRP. However, it also held puts and cash ETF exits cut in Q2 2026.

Volatility Shares’ XRPI put position rose from 30,400 to 90,700 contracts. New puts appeared in Bitwise XRP and Teucrium 2x XRP ETFs. Franklin XRPZ puts were reduced but not closed. These put positions indicate the hedging strategy used by Ken Griffin’s Citadel to prevent losses.

Several other cash ETF lines were wiped out, including Canary XRPC, Bitwise XRP, Franklin XRPZ, Grayscale GXRP calls, ProShares Ultra XRP options, and Teucrium XXRP options.

Bullish Signals Keep on Growing

With Ripple pushing deeper into tokenization, payments, and DeFi infrastructure as well as the major XRP Ledger v3.3.0 upgrade upcoming, bullish signals for XRP price rally are rising.

Notably, Ken Griffin’s Citadel also revealed Armada Acquisition Corp II (XRPN) holdings. Ripple-based largest XRP treasury Evernorth Holdings nears merger with Armada to debut on Nasdaq, with final shareholder voting on September 30 after SEC’s approval.

As CoinGape scooped, JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, and Goldman Sachs disclosed XRP exposure in Q2. Goldman Sachs returned as largest XRP ETF holder with $86.50 million in total holdings.

U.S. spot XRP ETFs have continued to take in money into early September, with cumulative net inflows near $1.7 billion. This comes even as XRP price has given back part of its late-August rally.

XRP price rebounded almost 10% today amid Trump discussing US-Iran war end and the Treasury debt buyback. The price is trading at $1.46 from a 24-hour low of $1.33. Trading volume jumped 20% over the past few hours.
