Celo’s USA₮ faucet now offers $10 to verified users, marking a boost in stablecoin adoption. Learn how USA₮ is positioned in the U.S. market.
Two weeks after launching its USA₮ Mainnet Faucet, Celo has significantly increased its stablecoin distribution, offering up to $10 in USA₮ to verified users. The move, announced by Celo and its partners Self and Google Cloud, aims to accelerate adoption of Tether’s federally regulated U.S. dollar stablecoin among real, verified users worldwide.
The faucet, originally launched with a $1 USD-equivalent distribution, now gives users who complete identity verification via Self a much larger payout. USA₮, issued through Anchorage Digital Bank, is backed by dollar reserves and short-term U.S. Treasury instruments, distinguishing it from Tether’s global USDT stablecoin. This increase in distribution aligns with USA₮’s broader push to establish itself as a compliance-first stablecoin for U.S. markets.
How the Faucet Works
Interested users can participate by visiting Google Cloud’s USA₮ Mainnet Faucet and connecting a Celo-compatible wallet, such as Ledger, MetaMask, or Valora. Verification with Self requires government-issued identification, including biometric passports or Aadhaar cards, while maintaining privacy through zero-knowledge proof technology. Once verified, users receive $5 in USA₮. Additional incentives include:
- Sending USA₮ to another Celo wallet for an extra $2.
- Holding 50 USA₮ or more for 10 consecutive days to earn another $3.
These enhanced payouts follow growing ecosystem participation. Platforms like MiniPay, Opera’s self-custodial wallet, are set to integrate USA₮, and Celo is running an “Agents at Work” hackathon with $750 in stablecoin adoption bounties. Builders are encouraged to develop remittance, bill payment, and on-chain FX solutions leveraging USA₮.
USA₮ in Context
Launched in January 2026, USA₮ represents Tether’s foray into U.S.-regulated markets under the GENIUS Act framework. Unlike USDT, which caters to global liquidity needs, USA₮ focuses on domestic compliance, with reserves attested by Anchorage Digital Bank. As of September 3, 2026, USA₮ trades at $0.999422 with a market cap of $184.21 million, per CoinMarketCap.
The initiative also comes at a time of heightened competition among U.S.-focused stablecoins like USDC and USDP. By leveraging Tether’s brand and infrastructure while adhering to U.S. regulatory standards, USA₮ aims to carve out a niche for itself in the domestic market. The boosted faucet distribution on Celo reflects a strategy to drive user adoption and network effects in an increasingly crowded space.
What’s Next
Celo’s push to increase USA₮ distribution underscores the growing importance of compliance-ready stablecoins in expanding blockchain payment networks. With MiniPay integration imminent and the hackathon running through September 14, further adoption metrics may soon emerge. For users and developers, now’s a compelling time to explore the opportunities USA₮ offers.
