Hunter Biden, the son of former U.S. President Joe Biden, plans to launch the LAPTOP meme coin on Base on September 9, adding another political token to the crypto market.
The project will issue 1 billion LAPTOP tokens, with part of the supply earmarked for people who lost money on President Donald Trump’s TRUMP meme coin. Biden is also expected to join the project’s founding team, according to reports.
The token takes its name from the laptop controversy involving Biden that became a major issue during the 2020 presidential campaign.
LAPTOP Tokenomics and Airdrops
The founding team will receive 30% of the supply. Those tokens will remain locked for six months before gradually unlocking over two years.

Another 20% will fund two airdrop rounds. Potential recipients include losing TRUMP holders, Hunter Biden’s Substack subscribers and people on Andrew Callaghan’s mailing list.
A further 20% will support charity, liquidity, market makers and operating costs. The remaining 30% is allocated to 30 preset events that could trigger token burns.
Political Events Could Affect Supply
Some burn triggers depend on political or market outcomes. These include a Democrat winning the 2028 presidential election, Bitcoin reaching a new record, or LAPTOP surpassing TRUMP in fully diluted valuation.
If conditions are not met within their designated periods, the tokens would instead be donated to charities, according to people familiar with the project.
