Harvey’s Agentic Vault Search and Organization streamline document handling for legal teams using AI, reducing manual effort in complex workflows.
Harvey AI has unveiled two new features—Agentic Vault Search and Agentic Vault Organization—designed to streamline how legal teams handle large, complex document repositories. Announced on September 8, 2026, these tools aim to make searching and organizing legal files faster and more reliable by leveraging advanced AI capabilities.
The Agentic Vault Search feature enables users to attach an entire document repository, or “Vault,” to a query. Instead of relying on traditional keyword searches, which are often inconsistent, Harvey’s AI analyzes contextual clues like folder structure, naming conventions, and user upload patterns to locate the right files autonomously. This is a significant upgrade for teams managing data rooms, discovery productions, or contract portfolios. According to Harvey, the feature works within existing ethical walls and permissions, logging every action for compliance purposes.
Agentic Vault Organization addresses a different pain point: disorganized file structures. Legal teams regularly inherit chaotic document sets, such as vendor agreements with inconsistent naming conventions or discovery productions with files named only by numbers. Harvey’s AI can reorganize these files based on user instructions, such as grouping by counterparty or renaming them to follow a standardized format. Importantly, all changes require user confirmation, ensuring full control over the process.
Why This Matters for Legal Teams
Legal workflows, particularly in M&A and litigation, often involve sifting through thousands of documents to find specific clauses or organize materials for review. Traditional methods of manual searching and organizing are not only time-consuming but prone to errors. Harvey’s Agentic Vault tools remove much of this friction by automating repetitive tasks, freeing up time for higher-value legal work.
These features build on Harvey’s existing Vault capabilities, such as Flexible Query Organization, which lets users save queries to specific locations for better project management (released November 2025), and Vault Recycle Bin, which provides a 30-day recovery window for deleted files (introduced July 2026). With Agentic Vault Search and Organization now available, Harvey continues to expand its toolkit for document-intensive legal practices.
AI Shaping the Future of Legal Tech
This announcement highlights a broader trend of AI-driven innovation in legal technology. By automating tedious processes like document retrieval and organization, tools like Harvey’s Agentic Vault features are reshaping how legal teams operate. For firms managing high-stakes transactions or litigation, these efficiencies can translate into faster turnaround times and reduced overhead costs.
Agentic Vault Search is now available to all Harvey users, while Agentic Vault Organization is currently in early access. Legal teams interested in exploring these tools can request a demo through Harvey’s website.
