Ripple (XRP) price is up by 3.77% today, September 9, to trade at $1.43 at the time of writing. XRP is gaining despite falling odds of the CLARITY Act bill passing in 2026, with a Senate vote scheduled to occur on September 15.

Meanwhile, on-chain data shows that XRP’s whale-retail spread has widened as large-sized transactions outpace small-sized transactions.

XRP’s Whale-Retail Spread Jumps to 45%

Data from CryptoQuant shows the Whale-Retail Spread for XRP has increased from 33% to 45.8%, suggesting that whales are making more transactions than retail traders.

The whale-retail spread on Binance has also increased from 35.6% on July 28 to 36.3% on September 9.

A recent report by CoinGape also noted that the 30-day MA for XRP’s Whale Flow shows that whales are purchasing XRP again despite the price remaining between $1.40 and $1.43.

These purchases by whales also come despite reduced odds that the US Senate will pass the CLARITY Act bill. Data from CoinGape prediction markets shows that there is only a 15% chance that the bill will pass in 2026.

The dropping odds come as Senate Republicans warn that the CLARITY Act will likely fail if the White House does not approve the ethics text.

ETF Inflows Continue Amid Bullish Positioning

Data from SoSoValue shows that there were $1.55 million inflows to XRP ETFs on September 8. XRP was also the only ETF among the top five biggest ones by net assets to record inflows.

These inflows could explain why XRP price is gaining today despite the bearish market sentiment caused by rising oil prices because of the US-Iran war. The ETF inflows are also offsetting the selling pressure coming from retail traders.

Data from CoinGlass also shows that the XRP funding rate has increased from 0.0030% on September 8 to 0.0098 at the time of writing as demand for long buying positions increases.

The long/short reading of 1.02 also suggests that there are more long buying accounts than short selling accounts. The long/short reading on Binance and OKX had also risen to 2.26 and 2.3, respectively, at the time of writing.

XRP Price Prediction as Bullish EMA Crossover Emerges

The price of XRP is testing the resistance at the upper trendline of a falling parallel channel. This resistance also corresponds with the 61.8% Fib of $1.43. If the price moves above this resistance, XRP could resume the uptrend that began on August 19 and reach the August 22 high of $1.699.

XRP’s move to the resistance at $1.43 also coincides with a bullish move of the 20-day EMA above the 200-day EMA. This crossover supports a long-term bullish XRP price outlook.

If this EMA crossover increases buying pressure and the price of XRP moves above the resistance at $1.43, the uptrend could continue to the 161.8% Fib of $2.13.

The CMF reading of 0.09 suggests that the buying pressure is higher than the selling pressure. Still, the CMF needs to print a higher high to support a bullish long-term outlook.

If this CMF reading drops to the negative side, XRP price could face rejection again at the resistance of $1.43 and could drop to test the support at $1.35.
