As ‘Drawn Together’ Premieres, Mercedes Ron Shares Road To Global Success

In June 2026, half of Prime Video’s Top 10 most-watched Original films worldwide belonged to a single storyteller: Argentine-Spanish author Mercedes Ron. Her franchise swept the charts across languages and borders, leading with the UK adaptation Your Fault: London at No. 1​. Its predecessor and franchise opener, My Fault: London, held No. 3, while all three films from her original Spanish Culpables trilogy claimed the No. 6, No. 7, and No. 9 spots.

That chart sweep was no fluke. It was the foundation for what has become a global phenomenon. With 11 active screen adaptations of her novels, the global success of her Culpables franchise on the streaming platform has built a young adult realm where she dominates the space.​ What started as a​n​ inside joke among Ron and Amazon MGM’s Spanish Prime Video team, who ​dubbed her growing slate of adaptations “The House of Ron​,“ is now an official industry reality.​

In June, Amazon MGM Studios formalized this relationship by signing Ron to an exclusive global first-look deal, naming her executive producer on all future adaptations of her work.​ The agreement also gives ​​Ron a new behind-the-scenes role: scouting IP from other authors and bringing it to Amazon MGM Studios for possible development.

​“Perfect timing with all the adaptations I have with Prime Video right now,” Ron reflects​.​ “We’re so happy and working together and of course, we have been making movies that have worked really, really well. Working with them has been amazing. And yeah, I can’t wait for everything that is going to come in the future.​”

Ron’s Future is Now, Starting With ‘Drawn Together’

Ahead of her next highly anticipated film adaptation, Drawn Together (originally published in Spanish as Marfil), Ron reflected on her journey from a teenage writer whose work was rejected by publishers to a Wattpad phenomenon who built a massive fan base by simply telling the stories she loved.

Now an accomplished author and executive producer of her own adaptations, she shares how her Enfrentados duology, which encompasses​ Drawn Together and Drawn ​Apart, marks an evolution in her work, expanding into more mature, darker themes than her hit film series Culpables.

“It’s more adult than YA [young adult],” Ron notes. “I’m very happy my readers have been growing at the same time as I have. It’s more mature. It talks about topics that are more serious. You have a strong woman, you have Marfil, she’s going to go through a really difficult path… so she’s going to change. She’s going to need to learn how to manage all these difficulties.”

Filmed on location in New York, the movie stars Spanish sensation Ester Expósito (Venus, Élite), whom Ron personally petitioned the producers to cast as Marfil, alongside actor Iván García (The Substance) as bodyguard Sebastian Moore.

​In Drawn Together, Ron introduces a heavy dose of suspense​ involving kidnappings, murder and a crime syndicate. “It has more action​,” she says. “If Culpables is 70% romance, 30% thriller, this one is 50/50….I think no one is expecting how dark it is.”

The movie ends on a cliffhanger, setting the stage for the second installment, Drawn ​Apart (Ébano). Filming for the sequel has wrapped and Ron is pleased with the result.

​”It’s finished.​..I have already watched it. It​’s so good​,” she states. ​”I hope it comes out next year.”

While there currently is no release date for Drawn ​Apart, Prime Video has already confirmed premiere​s for two of her adaptations: Tell Me in Secret (Dímelo en secreto), ​the second instalment in Ron’s bestselling Dímelo trilogy, ​and Our Fault: London,​ will arrive in 2027​.

Creative Authority, Voice of her Fans

The Amazon MGM Studios deal​ marks Ron’s​ most significant evolution in career​, allowing her​ to transition into active filmmaking as an ​executive ​producer across all current and future adaptations. ​Stepping onto a multi-million dollar movie set with real creative authority is a dream years in the making and represents a validation of a journey that began with deep frustration.

A decade ago, a 19-year-old Ron faced crushing rejections from traditional publishers. Driven by an unshakeable belief in her stories, she began self-publishing on Wattpad in mid-2015.

“I knew people would love the book,” she shares. “I knew what a teenager would want to read because I write what I love to read… I had that fire inside me that was telling me, ‘Okay, you need to put this out in the world.’ It started like that, just trying to prove if I was right or not… and it exploded. It was crazy. I was uploading chapters every day.”

That digital explosion eventually led to a print deal with Penguin Random House, but fans paved the path to the screen. Pokeepsie Films, the production company of acclaimed director Álex de la Iglesia, optioned the rights to Culpa Mía because his daughters were massive fans of the novel.

“I owe them because they talked to their father and said, ‘You need to make this into a movie.’ It’s crazy. You never know who is reading you,” Ron laughs. Once Prime Video stepped in, the project accelerated at a breakneck pace. “Everything went faster, and then the movie was out, and suddenly everything was crazy. We were filming four movies in a year.”

Now, Ron expresses excitement about her new role as executive producer, but she believes her value on set goes far beyond technical execution. She sees herself as the ultimate bridge between the studio and her readers.

“I’m kind of the voice of the fans. I think like Amazon really understood that from the beginning,” she states. “With books that have this huge fandom, you need to pay attention to that because they are the ones that are going to sell the movie on TikTok, on Instagram.”

​Expanding Horizons and New Projects in Development

Even as her cinematic ​f​ootprint grows, Ron remains devoted to her literary roots. In May 2026, she surprised her global fanbase by publishing ​Culpa Vuestra, expanding the Culpables trilogy into a quartet. Returning to her beloved characters Nick and Noah was a decision born entirely out of reader loyalty.

“I did it for the fans,” Ron explains. “I’m here today because of them and they’ve been asking for 10 years for me to write another book. I was like, ‘Okay, I’m going to give it a try. I don’t promise anything.’ But then I found myself loving the creative process… and suddenly I had a fourth book… it’s a gift for them.”

​There’s no word yet on whether Culpa Vuestra will be turned into a film, although it seems highly likely.

Looking ahead, ​Amazon MGM ​S​tudios is currently developing​ 30 Sunsets to Fall in Love​ (30 Sunsets Para Enamorarte), marking the very first ​U.S. adaptation of her work. Filmed with a Hollywood budget, the project adapts her Bali ​d​uology saga, which she wrote while living on the Indonesian island for four and a half months during the pandemic.

A​m​id all the film adaptations in the works, Ron​, a self-described “huge fan of Game of Thrones,” is quietly tackling her ultimate personal writing challenge: writing her very first fantasy novel.

“I love fantasy so much… That’s kind of my secret project,” she reveals.​ “And I have another​ romance novel in mind. ​My goal is to have another book next year. Let’s see if I have time.​”
