TLDR

  • X has launched its U.S. Cashtag Partner Program with five brokerage partners: Coinbase, Gemini, Kraken, Interactive Brokers, and Moomoo.
  • Users can tap a cashtag and see a “Trade” button that redirects them to a participating brokerage.
  • X does not execute trades itself. All transactions happen on the partner’s platform.
  • The program builds on smart cashtags launched earlier this year, which added live charts and asset data.
  • The rollout is part of X’s broader push to become an “Everything App” with financial services.

X has added a trading feature to its cashtag system, connecting users in the United States directly to brokerage platforms from within the social media app.

The Cashtag Partner Program went live with five participating firms: Coinbase, Gemini, Kraken, Interactive Brokers, and Moomoo. Each serves a different slice of the market, from pure crypto exchanges to multi-asset brokerages.

How the Cashtag Program Works

When a user taps a supported cashtag, they see financial data tied to that asset. A new “Trade” button then appears, letting the user pick a brokerage and move directly to that platform to complete a transaction.

X is not executing trades itself. The social platform acts as a connector, routing users to whichever participating firm they choose. Account setup, identity checks, and trading conditions are all handled by the brokerage.

Cashtags use a dollar sign before an asset symbol, like $BTC for Bitcoin. Traders have used the format for years to organize financial posts and track conversations around specific assets.

Coinbase, Gemini, and Kraken cover the crypto side of the program. Interactive Brokers handles stocks, options, futures, and currencies. Moomoo offers both stocks and crypto through its regulated entities.

X did not release a full list of supported tickers. Availability will vary by brokerage, depending on each firm’s product list and customer eligibility rules.

Background on Smart Cashtags

The Cashtag Partner Program builds on smart cashtags that X introduced earlier in 2026 for iPhone users in the United States and Canada. That rollout added live price charts and asset-specific posts to cashtag pages.

Canadian users received a trading link through Wealthsimple as part of that launch. U.S. trading links were not included at the time. The new program fills that gap and brings in multiple brokerage partners instead of one.

Kraken has been expanding its own product range. The exchange added 7,000 stocks for European Economic Area customers in August and entered U.S. stock trading in 2025. Coinbase has also added U.S. stocks and ETFs to its platform.

Mridul Singhai, X’s product engineering lead, said the feature closes the gap between seeing a ticker on a timeline and being able to trade the asset behind it.

Monique Pintarelli, head of global advertising at SpaceXAI, said the program lets users move from discovery to action without leaving the moment.

X has been building financial features as part of its Everything App strategy. X Money, which launched earlier this year, offers peer-to-peer transfers, direct deposits, a debit card, and yields on balances.

X holds money-transmitter licenses in more than 40 U.S. states and has partnered with Visa to support transfers between bank accounts and X Money wallets.

The Cashtag Partner Program is currently live in the United States. X has not said when it will expand the program to other countries or add more brokerage partners.
