The integration adds USD, EUR and GBP payment capabilities, including SWIFT, SEPA and Faster Payments connectivity, as Sage expands its infrastructure for institutional digital asset firms.

Sage Capital Management has selected financial infrastructure provider OpenPayd to expand fiat payment and settlement capabilities for its institutional digital asset clients.

The integration gives Sage clients access to additional USD, EUR and GBP payment rails, including USD on- and off-ramping via SWIFT, euro payments through SEPA and sterling payments through the UK’s Faster Payments network and SWIFT.

Sage, which provides banking, liquidity, lending and technology infrastructure to digital asset institutions, said the expanded connectivity is designed to make it easier for clients to fund trading activity and settle with liquidity providers across different currencies and payment networks.

The company serves hedge funds, asset managers, trading firms, brokers, corporate treasuries and digital asset treasuries.

OpenPayd will also allow Sage to issue virtual International Bank Account Numbers, or vIBANs, for individual clients. The accounts can be used to track incoming and outgoing payments separately, helping institutions automate reconciliation and manage payment flows more precisely.

The addition of multiple fiat rails addresses a persistent operational challenge for institutional crypto firms: moving traditional currency efficiently between clients, banking partners, exchanges and liquidity providers.

OpenPayd’s Chief Commercial Officer, Lux Thiagarajah, commented “Fiat on/off-ramping gives institutions greater choice in how they access digital asset markets.” He added that “reliable payment connectivity is essential for moving funds between clients and counterparties.”

Sage’s CEO Nathan Sage further commented that the partnership strengthens his company’s ability to provide clients access to global banking networks, giving them the ability to move between fiat and digital assets and manage payments and foreign exchange from the same platform.

The deal builds on a banking product Sage launched earlier this year, which provides institutional clients with named multi-currency accounts held in their own legal entities, alongside physical and virtual corporate debit cards.

The OpenPayd integration adds another layer to Sage’s existing banking and market infrastructure, giving clients a more direct way to manage fiat payments alongside trading, lending and digital asset activity. OpenPayd’s platform supports account issuance, foreign exchange and domestic and international payments, as well as stablecoin on- and off-ramps. The company says it processes more than $300 billion in annual volume for over 1,200 businesses, including Kraken, OKX, eToro and B2C2.

This comes as institutional digital asset infrastructure providers increasingly focus on connecting crypto markets with traditional banking rails. Liquidity and custody have matured significantly in recent years, now access to reliable multi-currency banking and settlement infrastructure remains a key requirement for institutions looking to operate across both fiat and digital assets.
