XRP Recovery Builds as $1.50 Becomes the Next Test

XRP has recovered above $1.40 after rebounding from the $1.25 to $1.28 support zone, with the token now testing whether the latest move can extend toward $1.50.

XRP was trading around $1.40 on September 20, up roughly 5% over the previous seven days, with stronger XRP Ledger (XRPL) activity, increased whale positioning, and rising derivatives exposure supporting the recovery, while price has moved back toward the upper boundary of its recent corrective structure.

The next technical test sits around $1.45 to $1.50. A sustained breakout above that area would strengthen the recovery and put $1.55 to $1.60 back into play. A rejection would leave $1.36 to $1.40 as the first support area, followed by the stronger $1.25 to $1.30 zone.

XRP Rebounds From the $1.25 Support Zone

XRP has staged a strong recovery after falling toward $1.25 following the failed CLARITY Act vote and broader post-FOMC selloff.

The four-hour chart shows price rebounding from the lower boundary of a descending channel and recovering back toward $1.40 to $1.45.

$1.25 could be considered the key lower support area, while the upper part of the channel sits around $1.40 to $1.45.

Level Role
~$1.18 Deeper moving-average support
$1.25-$1.30 Major support zone
$1.36-$1.40 Near-term support
~$1.43 Current price area
~$1.45 Immediate resistance
~$1.50-$1.55 Breakout zone
~$1.60-$1.70 Major resistance
~$1.90-2.00 Higher target zone

Table 1. XRP Key Support and Resistance Levels

The immediate structure has improved, but XRP still needs to break above the channel rather than simply trade near its upper boundary.

Meanwhile, the next resistance level is around $1.45. In the same 4-hour timeframe, XRP is inside an ascending recovery channel after the rebound from $1.28, with immediate resistance near $1.45. A confirmed break above that level would expose $1.50, followed by approximately $1.60.

A sustained close above $1.45 would therefore be more useful than a brief move toward $1.50. If XRP can then hold above $1.50, the recovery would gain stronger technical confirmation.

XRP Is Approaching a Golden Cross

On September 18, XRP was approaching a golden cross, which occurs when the 50-day moving average crosses above the 200-day moving average.

image 134

A golden cross is a lagging indicator, so it does not guarantee an immediate rally. XRP can consolidate or pull back around the crossover because moving averages reflect previous price action.

Price holding above $1.25 to $1.30 and breaking $1.45 to $1.50 would provide stronger confirmation than the crossover alone.

XRP Ledger Transactions Rise 8.9%

Network activity has increased alongside the price recovery. The XRPL recorded about 2.34 million transactions over the latest 24-hour period, up 8.9%, according to XRPScan data.

Higher transaction counts show increased network activity, although a single-day rise does not necessarily mean long-term adoption is accelerating.

For price analysis, the stronger signal would be sustained activity while XRP remains above $1.40 and continues challenging the $1.45 to $1.50 resistance zone.

Whale Activity Sends Mixed Signals

Large XRP holders have become significantly more active.

Data cited by chart analyst Ali Martinez shows large holders accumulating approximately 1.54 billion XRP over 96 hours, worth about $2.2 billion at the reported prices.

At the same time, CryptoQuant exchange data showed whale transfers to Binance reached about 1.6 billion XRP over the previous 30 days, the highest level since March 2026.

Accumulation by large holders can reduce available supply, while large deposits to centralized exchanges can increase potential sell-side pressure.

XRP holding above $1.40 suggests buyers have absorbed the available supply so far, but the exchange inflow data means large-holder activity should not be interpreted as uniformly bullish.

XRP Open Interest Climbs Above $3.2 Billion

Derivatives traders are adding exposure as XRP moves higher.

Open interest rose about 8.1% to about $3.24 billion, while derivatives volume rose about 2.7% to $5.13 billion, according to CoinGlass data.

Rising open interest shows more leveraged positions are remaining open as price advances, which may amplify the recovery if XRP breaks through resistance, but it also raises liquidation risk if price reverses sharply.

A cleaner breakout would ideally combine a move above $1.45 to $1.50 with controlled funding and continued spot demand rather than a rapid buildup in leverage alone.

Batch V1.1 Adds a Network Catalyst

The XRP Ledger’s Batch V1.1 upgrade is another factor traders are monitoring. The upgrade is expected to improve settlement efficiency by allowing multiple transactions to be executed atomically as a batch, reducing operational complexity for certain workflows.

The upgrade can improve XRPL functionality, but protocol development does not guarantee a specific price reaction.

Its longer-term relevance will depend on whether the feature drives meaningful use after activation, not just short-term market attention.

Scenario Price Trigger Possible Outcome
Bullish Case XRP clears $1.50-$1.55 $1.60-$1.70 comes into focus, followed by $1.90-$2 if momentum persists
Base Case XRP holds between $1.36 and $1.50 Recovery consolidates while buyers test resistance
Bearish Case XRP loses $1.36 and then $1.25 Broader correction resumes toward $1.18 and potentially $1.00

Table 2. XRP Price Scenarios Around the $1.50 Resistance Zone

Bottom Line

XRP has recovered from the support area and is now trading near $1.40, putting the token back against an important resistance zone.

The recovery is supported by fundamentals, including XRPL activity, increased large-holder participation, expanding derivatives open interest, and improving momentum.

Large exchange deposits and rising leverage still leave the market exposed to sharper pullbacks if buyers fail to clear resistance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Need a refresher? Here are some common questions about XRP’s current price setup.

Why Is XRP Recovering?

XRP has rebounded alongside the broader crypto market while XRP Ledger activity, whale participation, and derivatives positioning have increased. Price also recovered from the important $1.25 to $1.28 support zone.

What Happens if XRP Breaks Above $1.50?

A sustained move above $1.50 would strengthen XRP’s recovery and bring the $1.60 to $1.70 resistance zone into focus. Buyers would still need to hold the breakout to avoid another move back toward the $1.36 to $1.40 support area.

Is XRP Forming a Golden Cross?

As of September 18, XRP was approaching a golden cross, with the 50-day moving average nearing a crossover above the 200-day moving average. A golden cross is a lagging trend indicator and does not guarantee an immediate price increase.

Could XRP Reach $2?

A technical setup for XRP places the neckline of a developing inverse head-and-shoulders pattern around $1.55. XRP would first need to confirm a breakout above that area, and then clear resistance around $1.60 to $1.70 before $1.90 to $2 becomes a more relevant target.

What Support Level Does XRP Need to Hold?

The first short-term support sits around $1.36 to $1.40. If that fails, $1.25 to $1.30 becomes the more important support zone, with deeper support around $1.18.
