Palo Alto Networks launched a new cybersecurity service on Tuesday that uses frontier AI models from Anthropic and OpenAI to help businesses find and fix security vulnerabilities.

The service is called Unit 42 Continuous Frontier AI Defense. It draws on Anthropic’s Claude Mythos 5 and OpenAI’s GPT-5.6-Cyber, as well as open-weight models, to continuously scan corporate systems for weaknesses.

PANW stock fell 2% during early trading on the day of the announcement.

The product is designed to test web applications, APIs, and cloud infrastructure on an ongoing basis. As a company’s digital environment changes, the service identifies new vulnerabilities and possible attack paths.

It also provides guidance on how to fix those gaps. That includes code-level fixes and virtual patching options.

Palo Alto said that during in-house testing, the product uncovered a year’s worth of exposures in just three weeks.

In customer trials, the results were striking. The Frontier AI Exposure Analysis found vulnerabilities in every single customer tested, with 37% of those vulnerabilities rated as high or critical severity.

What the AI Models Bring to the Table

OpenAI’s head of Global Cyber Partnerships, McCall McIntyre, said frontier AI is compressing the time it takes to find and exploit vulnerabilities. She said the partnership pairs GPT Cyber Models with deep security expertise and human judgment to help organizations move from discovery to remediation at machine speed.

Anthropic’s cybersecurity lead, Michael Moore, said Claude Mythos found flaws that survived decades of human review, along with more than ten thousand high-severity vulnerabilities across widely used software.

Moore added that Unit 42 takes what Claude Mythos finds, tests whether it can actually be exploited, maps what an attacker could reach, and gets the fix to the right team first.

Pricing and Availability

The service is available worldwide through annual subscriptions. Pricing varies depending on which combination of OpenAI, Anthropic, and open-source models a customer selects.

The launch comes as hackers are increasingly using AI tools to probe and exploit weaknesses in corporate networks. Cybersecurity firms have been moving to build defenses that can detect and respond to threats faster.

Palo Alto said the service is designed to keep pace with that shift by using the same class of AI models that attackers are starting to use.

The company’s Unit 42 division handles threat intelligence and incident response. Integrating frontier AI models into that workflow is the core premise of the new offering.

In customer trials, the tool found exposures in 100% of customers tested, with 37% of those ranked as high or critical severity.
