European stock markets climbed on Friday. The gains came after a rough week marked by rising bond yields and energy cost worries.

The pan-European STOXX 600 index rose 0.6% during the session. This puts the index on pace for a small 0.1% gain for the week. That would end a three week losing streak for the benchmark.

Individual country indexes also moved higher. Germany’s DAX rose 0.8%. France’s CAC 40 gained 0.2%. London’s FTSE 100 added 0.5%.

Italy’s FTSE MIB led the group with a 1% jump.

What Drove The Gains

A drop in crude oil prices helped lift the market. Oil fell roughly 1% during the session.

Lower oil prices tend to help sectors that use a lot of energy. Travel, leisure, and industrial companies saw relief after being hit earlier in the week by inflation fears tied to rising costs.

Reports also emerged that the United States and Iran were exploring a phased agreement. That deal could reopen the Strait of Hormuz and lift a blockade on Iranian ports. This news contributed to the drop in oil prices.

Government bond yields, which had surged to multi-year highs earlier in the week, also stabilized. That gave rate-sensitive growth stocks room to recover.

Despite the daily bounce, the STOXX 600 remains lower for the month. A European gas storage deficit and unresolved Middle East trade tensions continue to weigh on sentiment.

Earnings And Corporate News

Corporate earnings also supported the market this week. Strong results from individual companies helped offset losses tied to the bond selloff.

Konecranes was among the biggest movers. The industrial equipment maker jumped nearly 67% after launching a share buyback program.

UBS shares rose 3%. This followed a Semafor report stating the bank had revived talks to exit its Switzerland operations.

Not every company saw gains. Safestay shares fell more than 35%. The hostel operator reported a 21% year-over-year decline in forward bookings, citing difficult trading conditions.

Market analysts say investors are still cautious. Luke Davis, founder and chief market strategist at Bull Market Blueprint, said policymakers would likely wait to see how falling energy costs affect inflation before making further rate decisions.

Investors are also watching diplomatic talks between the United States and China. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping met in Washington this week.

Lukman Otunuga, head of market research at FXTM, said a major breakthrough was unlikely. He added the meeting could still serve as a symbolic step toward future trade progress.

Energy and currency markets remain sensitive to Middle East developments. Traders are weighing the recent price pullback against the risk of new supply disruptions in the Persian Gulf.

As of Friday morning, Euro Stoxx 50 futures were up 0.8%. Stoxx 600 futures gained 0.7% in premarket trading. Investors are now turning attention to German consumer confidence data, French employment figures, and Spanish GDP numbers, with no major earnings reports scheduled for the day.
