TL;DR:
- The Litecoin Foundation and Greywick Digital signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on October 1, 2026, to develop cLTC, a version of Litecoin targeted at the Canton Network.
- The Litecoin network has processed over 417 million historical transactions since 2011, with verified circulating supply exceeding 77 million of its hard-capped 84 million tokens.
- The asset is currently operating in a testnet phase, with its mainnet deployment scheduled for late 2026, subject to reserve address disclosures and third-party audits.
On Thursday, the Litecoin Foundation and Greywick Digital announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding to deploy cLTC on Canton, a tokenized Litecoin derivative designed for settlement transactions and yield-bearing instruments.

Greywick Digital will lead the technical development of the asset, while the Litecoin Foundation will provide institutional backing to drive operational adoption. The token aims to integrate into a blockchain environment tailored for financial institutions requiring transactional privacy and interoperability with legacy systems.
The mainnet launch remains contingent upon the publication of reserve addresses, the backing attestation framework, and the finalized deployment schedule. Currently, the underlying architecture is undergoing trial phases on an active testnet.
Litecoin has maintained uninterrupted uptime since its inception in 2011, processing more than 417 million transfers on-chain over that span. Official registry data indicates that over 77 million units are currently in circulation against its immutable supply ceiling of 84 million.
The Litecoin Foundation’s announcement highlights that the asset holds ratified commodity legal status from both the SEC and the CFTC in the United States, alongside full compliance with the European Union’s MiCA regulatory framework. Institutional documentation adds that this regulatory clarity—coupled with spot exchange-traded fund (ETF) listings on Nasdaq and corporate treasury adoption across North America—serves as a primary catalyst for its integration into banking rails.
Institutional Ecosystem Expansion on Canton Network
Canton Network’s infrastructure has secured several enterprise-grade integrations throughout the latter half of 2026. The network operates under a privacy-enabled framework featuring institutional participants such as DTCC, Goldman Sachs, BNY Mellon, and Circle.
On August 25, 2026, World Liberty Financial expanded its USD1 stablecoin to the network for institutional settlements and loan collateralization. Earlier, on July 1, 2026, trading platform Tradeweb completed a real-time settlement of tokenized U.S. Treasuries against USDCx on Canton without relying on traditional off-chain clearing mechanisms.
Additionally, enterprise software firm Digital Asset and the American Idea Foundation entered a partnership on August 21, 2026, to pilot RISE, a social benefit distribution program hosted on the Canton Network.
The roadmap shared by the entities targets the mainnet launch of cLTC prior to the end of the fourth quarter of 2026. Concurrently, pilot deployments for the state-level RISE initiative are slated to begin across three states in the first quarter of 2027, pending formal federal regulatory approvals.
