XRP Asia has officially launched at XRP Seoul 2026, with a focus on growing the XRP Ledger (XRPL) across the Asia Pacific region. The new group aims to bring more businesses, developers, and financial institutions onto the network.

The launch comes just before two major XRPL upgrades, Batch and Permission Delegation, planned for early October 2026.

XRP Asia Goes Live

XRP Asia is led by Sabrina Tachdjian, former vice president of the Hedera Foundation. She is set to speak on 3 Oct, at the Grand Hyatt Seoul during Korea Blockchain Week at an event titled “Special Announcement: What’s Coming Next for the XRP Ecosystem in Asia.”

The event also featured representatives from Woori Bank, K Bank and JB Bank in a panel on cross-border payments and tokenized deposits.

Its strategy covers four areas, technology, startup success, community, and marketing.

The group plans to support developers through training, micro-grants, early stage investments, and go-to-market support. Its focus also extends beyond DeFi to retail applications, AI-based payments and non-financial enterprise use cases.

XRP Moves From Payments Toward Credit

The next phase will move beyond ecosystem building. At XRP Seoul 2026, Ripple President Monica Long said the company plans to connect the XRP Ledger (XRPL) with payment infrastructure.

She further said,

“We are running credit-related pilots with the goal of activation next year.

The plan includes using pooled XRP as collateral to help fund customer payments

The plan follows SBI Ripple Asia approval under Japan’s Payment Services Act as a Third-Party Prepaid Payment Instrument Issuer, supporting regulated prepaid token activity on the XRPL

October Core Protocol Upgrades

The regional rollout is also arriving alongside two planned protocol upgrades, including Permission Delegation Infrastructure and Batch Amendment.

First, the Permission Delegation Infrastructure update is set for 8 Oct. It will allow companies to delegate transaction signing without giving up control of their main wallets.

Second, the Batch Amendment is set for 9 Oct. It will allow multiple transactions to be grouped and processed in a single ledger entry, helping improve speed and efficiency for high-volume activity.

Both upgrades will need more than 80% validator support during the activation period.
