A LayerZero strategic partner moved 8 million ZRO tokens worth approximately $14.98 million to Coinbase Prime on October 3, according to on-chain data. The transaction represents the first major movement from a 40.57 million ZRO allocation received by two related addresses about one year ago. The transfer places a substantial portion under institutional custody.
The transaction represents about 19.7% of the original allocation, leaving approximately 32.57 million ZRO outside the reported transfer. The movement places a substantial portion of the partner-linked holdings at Coinbase Prime, an institutional custody and trading platform. However, the deposit alone does not confirm that the transferred tokens have been sold.

LayerZero ZRO Transfer Draws Attention
However, the timing of the movement is interesting, given that it was unprecedented in the case of addresses in terms of a similar movement from the reported allocation. Large token holdings at the institutional platforms may occur ahead of market trades, OTC trades, custody, or liquidity activities. Without further activities, though, the purpose of the strategic partner in question cannot be determined.
LayerZero’s official token documentation states that ZRO has a total supply of 1 billion tokens. The allocation in question belongs to the tokens that are part of the total supply of tokens that need to be vested by LayerZero, and LayerZero itself has reported that actual market sales may be lower than the unlock amount.
According to LayerZero’s token update report in June 2026, 134.7 million tokens had already been unlocked for investors through the token generation event, but 85.9 million tokens remain unlocked as of May 31. Average sales of tokens in the public market have amounted to 4.9 million ZRO per month.
LayerZero Strategic Partner Transfer Remains Partial
The reported Coinbase Prime transfer implies that about 32.57 million ZRO out of the total 40.57 million-token distribution remain untransferred. This amount implies that the transfer in question should be considered a partial transfer and not a sign of liquidation of all ZRO of the respective strategic partner.
LayerZero strategic partners have taken actions impacting strategic-partner token distribution as well. The official sources confirm that the Foundation bought back 50 million ZRO from strategic partners in September 2025 and thus decreased the gross monthly strategic-partner unlock amount from 15 million to 12.7 million tokens.
The broader vesting schedule remains relevant for ZRO holders. According to third-party vesting sources, there are 23.08 million ZRO to be distributed on October 20; out of which, 12.88 million will go to strategic partners while 10.2 million will be distributed among core contributors.
ZRO Supply Faces Additional Unlock Activity
The October transfer follows the September update by LayerZero, which stated that STG holders will be able to convert their tokens to ZRO until December 15, whereas LayerZero is collaborating with exchanges, market makers, custodians, and ecosystem partners in this process.
ZRO is also associated with the income earned through Stargate. According to LayerZero, fees from Stargate are used for purchasing ZRO every month, and 100% of the Stargate revenue will be used for ZRO purchases since the revenue-sharing agreement of Stargate with former veSTG holders ended.
In addition, there is a trading infrastructure for markets created by LayerZero called ATLAS, which comprises functions like matching, clearing, settlement, and risk management. ZRO will have an important role in both Zero and ATLAS, and trading platforms can stake ZRO to earn more fee rebates. After rebates and allocations, 75% of the ATLAS fees will be used to purchase and burn ZRO.
Further ZRO Movements Could Shape Market
EmberCN provided the latest LayerZero ZRO on-chain transaction. The two addresses have received 40.57 million ZRO, which is approximately worth $73.02 million, from the LayerZero strategic-partner multisignature wallet one year ago.
Six hours before EmberCN’s post, the two addresses moved 8 million ZRO, worth approximately $14.98 million, to Coinbase Prime. This was the first major movement from the allocation in more than a year, since the addresses have held the full amount of tokens.

The data leaves approximately 32.57 million ZRO from the original allocation outside the reported transaction. Thus, it becomes a wallet flow signal and does not confirm any liquidity actions of the strategic partner.
Future events will depend on further blockchain activity. Further movements of the rest of the balance, any movements of the tokens from Coinbase Prime, and any sales may become signals of the partner’s activity. However, in this situation, the latest LayerZero ZRO transaction should be regarded as an institutional one.
