Samsung is bringing stablecoin transfers directly into Samsung Wallet, giving eligible users across 82 million compatible U.S. Galaxy devices access to USDC payments without requiring a separate crypto wallet application.
The new stablecoin functionality will begin rolling out during the last week of October. Users will be able to transfer USDC to compatible crypto wallets internationally and send funds to eligible bank accounts in more than 60 countries, where recipients can receive local currency.
Samsung will not charge a transfer fee when USDC is sent to supported external wallets, although receiving platforms may impose their own costs. Bank-account transfers are different: fees can apply depending on the destination and transaction amount and will be displayed before a transfer is confirmed.
The rollout follows Samsung’s earlier plans to integrate stablecoins directly into its wallet infrastructure, moving the product from a July preview into a scheduled consumer launch.
Solana Moves Into Samsung’s Payment Infrastructure
Solana will provide blockchain infrastructure for the new payment experience, allowing U.S. Samsung Wallet users to make cross-border USDC transfers through the same interface used for payment cards, IDs and other wallet functions.
Fiat on-ramps and off-ramps will handle conversions between traditional currencies and stablecoins behind the interface. Samsung is also working with Sui on blockchain network support, while USDC will be the first stablecoin available when the service launches.
Solana Foundation President Lily Liu described Samsung’s integration as a distribution milestone for stablecoins, putting digital dollars inside a consumer product already installed across tens of millions of devices rather than requiring users to begin with a dedicated crypto platform.
The Solana Foundation said the network has processed more than $5.25 trillion in stablecoin volume during 2026, while stablecoin supply on Solana has increased nearly 20% year over year.
The integration extends a broader payments push around the network. Mastercard introduced always-on stablecoin settlement on Solana earlier this year, adding blockchain settlement infrastructure alongside growing consumer and enterprise payment activity.
Coinbase Prime Will Custody Samsung Wallet USDC
USDC will appear as the default dollar stablecoin when an eligible Samsung Wallet user selects the option to buy stablecoins.
Coinbase will custody those USDC balances through Coinbase Prime Vault, while regulated stablecoin infrastructure provider Bastion will operate the underlying stablecoin accounts and cross-border payment framework.
Users will need an eligible U.S. Samsung account, a Galaxy device running Android 13 or later, identity verification and biometric authentication. Samsung itself will not hold customer funds or operate as the digital asset custodian.
Samsung is also considering stablecoin payments online and through tap-to-pay transactions on Galaxy devices in later stages. Expansion beyond the U.S. will depend on regulatory requirements in individual markets.
