Cardano has achieved a new record for its transaction throughput in a single block, another incredible milestone for the network’s performance.
According to Chainspect, Cardano broke its own single-block TPS record, reaching 436 TPS on October 7, up from a figure of 345 TPS recorded earlier that same day.
“A record, then a bigger one, all in one day,” Chainspect noted. The back-to-back milestones highlight the Cardano network’s ability to handle significant bursts of transaction activity.
Cardano’s upcoming Ouroboros Leios protocol is expected to supercharge the network’s scalability, targeting 1,000 transactions per second (TPS).
Additionally, Chainspect reported that Cardano reached $70,000 in monthly revenue, higher than the previous month, adding that Cardano’s monthly numbers looked good.
Cardano returns to spotlight amid fresh developments
According to Santiment, Cardano’s social buzz recently reached yearly highs with fresh project developments serving as a catalyst. RealFi launched on Cardano mainnet on October 1, while anticipation around Leios, Fireblocks support, and new institutional integrations helped to drive Cardano’s biggest discussion spike of the year.
The last 24 hours have seen a string of developments for the Cardano blockchain. The Cardano Foundation recently announced that its .ada application is advancing to the next phase of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) New Generic Top-Level Domain (gTLD) Program. The Cardano Foundation’s application initiative follows a Governance Action that passed with nearly 75% support from the Cardano community, with the Foundation pursuing .ada for the ecosystem’s benefit.
If approved, the .ada gTLD will unlock several opportunities for the Cardano ecosystem, including ensuring a competitive digital presence for Cardano and enabling innovations for Cardano.
In separate news, Cardano is now supported in the Open Wallet Standard (OWS), starting with the v1.4.3 release. OWS is open-source software that lets applications and AI agents keep wallets on the machine they run on and sign through one interface across many blockchains.
Cardano’s programmable token standard, CIP-0113, is live on mainnet, allowing issuers of stablecoins and other regulated assets to build compliance rules directly into native Cardano tokens.
