Algorand [ALGO] rallied by more than 17% in the past 24 hours, leading gains among the top 100 cryptos by market cap. This surge has brought its total gains to over 41% in the past 30 days.
This rally is irrespective of Bitcoin [BTC] developing weakness as its price trades at $82,600. ALGO’s selective rally was as a result of fundamentals, technical upgrades to its code, and network activity. Here is how:
Why did Algorand crypto rally so hard today?
Algorand launched its post-quantum roadmap in June this year, putting the chain on track toward a resilient 2027.
As per the roadmap, PQ multisig and hybrid LogicSig accounts are being executed as planned for Q4. Thus, the chain was ready for any threat, whether it came in a few months or years, with 1.6 million post-quantum transactions already completed.
As a result, Algorand’s network activity also heightened as it supported AI agent payments through Coinbase’s x402. USDC on Algorand led x402 payments at $390.4K, followed by USDC on Base at $378.3K.
Most of Algorand’s volume came last week.

One fundamental reason was the appointment of a new CEO, William Herkelrath, who brought 20 years of experience in blockchain infrastructure. William has previously served as the Chief Revenue Officer at Curv before joining Chainlink [LINK] in another leadership role.
Moreover, ALGO has also been enjoying regulatory clarity since March as the SEC treats it as a digital commodity rather than a security. This ruling applies to many other cryptos, but can ALGO sustain the resurgence?
Is the rebound the start of an ALGO comeback?
Following this sudden uptick, Algorand broke above a bull flag, hinting at potential continuation. The correction began on the 28th of September, when most cryptos printed this year’s peaks.
The rebound saw buying pressure, with the CVD showing a maximum of 17.28 million ALGO longed during the day. To keep the altcoin surging, the price needs to stay above the pattern.
Numerically, ALGO should trade above $0.13 to keep it bullish, with the next target at $0.19. However, $0.14 has been a resistance for far too long, that is, since the start of 2026.

However, overlaying the RSI Divergence, a bearish signal appears, indicating potential profit-taking after the uptick. From that, it could hint that a short-term correction may follow this breakout.
Final Summary
- Algorand rallies over 17% following a technical upgrade to its code, a new CEO appointment, and a surge in AI payments.
- ALGO broke from a bull flag on the 4-hour chart for a continuation but faces this year’s resistance at $0.14.
