Unichain announced its migration to OP Enterprise, an upgrade that will introduce native interoperability with other networks built on OP Stack, the infrastructure developed by Optimism.

The migration will begin on testnet on October 13, followed by the mainnet upgrade on October 29. Optimism will oversee the operation, managing sequencers, RPC services, monitoring, and incident response.

Once interoperability becomes available, users will be able to transfer assets between Unichain and other OP Stack networks without using external bridges. Initially, this functionality will support ETH.

The upgrade will not change the chain ID, smart contracts, balances, or existing applications. The Uniswap v2, v3, and v4 deployments will also remain unchanged.

Unichain will retain its Stage 1 rollup classification, with permissionless fault proofs. Contract upgrades will remain under the oversight of Optimism Governance and its Security Council.

According to the announcement, the migration will also give Unichain early access to new OP Stack releases and native interoperability features as they become available.
