Bitcoin rose 1.5% to just under $83,900 during Wednesday’s Asian morning hours. The move followed comments from New York Fed President John Williams, who said he saw no need for further rate hikes in 2027.

His remarks weakened the dollar and lifted stocks across Asia. Williams did say one more hike this year may be appropriate.
ZEC led the major tokens, jumping nearly 7% to about $1,270. SOL and DOGE each gained 2.5%, and ether rose 2% to about $2,520, according to CoinDesk data.
XRP, BNB and HYPE added between 1% and 2%. TRX lagged with a gain of less than 1%.
Williams’ comments helped the S&P 500 pare its losses on Tuesday. S&P 500 futures rose 0.2%, and the index is hovering near last week’s record.
Volatility Traps Both Sides
Analyst Ash Crypto described the recent price action as “insane volatility” in a post on X. He said BTC dropped $3,300 in 18 hours, liquidating more than $600 million in long positions.

Then, BTC pumped over $3,000 in the last 8 hours, liquidating $107 million in short positions and adding $60 Billion in market value.

Then BTC rose more than $3,000 in the following 8 hours. That move liquidated $107 million in short positions and added $60 billion in market value, he said.
Ash Crypto wrote that the market is trapping both bulls and bears right now.
Chipmakers also recovered in Asia. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix both rallied, ending a five-day losing streak that had wiped out leveraged bets on chip stocks at crypto exchanges earlier this week.
MSCI’s Asia Pacific equities index rose 0.7%. That followed two days of losses that had pushed it to its lowest close since August.
Oil kept climbing, with Brent up 0.7% to about $106 a barrel. A flare-up in Middle East attacks raised doubts over a recovery in energy shipments from the Persian Gulf.
Saylor Predicts Return Above $100,000
Strategy executive chairman Michael Saylor said Bitcoin has entered a new bull market. In a Bloomberg Television interview on October 13, he said Bitcoin could climb back above $100,000.
Bitcoin is raw financial energy. Strategy transforms it into Digital Credit.
At noon today, I joined @TimSteno and @CarolMassar on Bloomberg @Crypto to discuss Bitcoin’s bull market setup, AI and scarcity, and the future of Digital Credit.

“We hit the bottom around slightly below $60,000,” Saylor said. He did not give a timeline for the move.
Bitcoin trades near $83,000, about 34% below its October 2025 record of $126,251. It has hovered around $80,000 since mid-August.
Strategy’s latest purchase added 250 BTC for about $21.5 million during October 5–11. Its total holdings now stand at 848,250 BTC.
MSCI is expected to announce its decision on Friday on a proposal that could exclude Strategy from its indexes. JPMorgan estimated that an exclusion could put about $2.8 billion in flows at risk, and Thursday’s U.S. inflation report is due first.
