Bitget account restrictions have been in the spotlight recently because the exchange added Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan to the list of countries whose residents cannot open accounts due to Bitget’s new English Terms of Use dated October 16, 2026. Nevertheless, Bitget did not reveal how many accounts would be affected or a deadline for all customers.

As per the report, Bitget will be communicating with the affected individuals about their respective deadlines for withdrawing their funds. This is because each customer might get different deadlines depending on their account.

What Do the Bitget Account Restrictions Mean for Users?

Bitget characterized the imposed measures as a one-off activity and reassured that users’ funds are completely safe. Moreover, it was noted that users who are not receiving any notifications can continue their activities on the platform under the previous terms and conditions.

It is worth mentioning that the support team of the exchange in the official support account also mentioned the prohibited jurisdictions list while answering questions regarding restrictions for Russian users.

One of the impacted users got a deadline of October 21. But Bitget has not clarified whether the deadline will apply to all customers in the said countries. Customers need to refer to their notification regarding the deadline and not assume that the deadline will be the same for all users.

Also, the Bitget account restrictions have not been clear on certain aspects. For instance, there is no information available regarding the number of affected users and the regulatory mandate that compelled them to take such a step.

Bitget Account Restrictions and Its Regulatory Efforts

These restrictions on the Bitget account have arisen due to the exchange working toward regulatory registrations in more markets. The Bitget exchange announced in May 2026 that it had completed the process of registrations with the Tax Administration Service of Mexico (SAT) and the Financial Intelligence Unit of Mexico (UIF).

These registrations have been portrayed by the exchange as part of its efforts toward expanding into Latin America.

However, it is notable that Bitget has not made any specific connection between the aforementioned registrations in Mexico and the restrictions imposed on Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan. As such, the above two facts have to be considered separately unless otherwise explained by the company.

As can be seen from the above comparison, different rules of access can be applied to cryptocurrency exchanges in various jurisdictions. While the above registrations could help operate in some jurisdictions, there can be some restrictions in others.

What Should Users Know About Bitget Account Restrictions?

Russian, Belarusian, and Kazakhstani users must monitor their emails and notifications on their Bitget accounts to see whether there are any changes in their access. Those receiving restriction messages must study them in order to understand what to do next.

Users who did not receive any notification must study the terms of use, as well as contact Bitget support services in case of any questions. It has been officially announced by Bitget that users who will not receive any notifications can continue using their accounts according to Bitget’s terms.

The Bitget account restrictions, on the other hand, make it essential for those customers who are impacted by the update to differentiate between the general list of jurisdictions that are prohibited and the messages sent to their accounts personally. It is noted that the new rules refer to the listed jurisdictions, while personal account-related notifications contain additional information.

As of now, it has not been revealed when there will be a common deadline for all the clients, how many customers will be impacted, and why precisely this particular regulatory restriction was chosen.
