Ripple is preparing for its next big event, Swell, scheduled for October 27 to 29, 2026, in New York.
Described as one of the industry’s most influential gatherings, Swell will bring together 1,500 of the world’s top decision-makers across traditional finance, crypto, academia and the XRP ecosystem.
Ripple senior software engineer Vito Tumas shared a countdown to the Swell event in an X post, saying “one week to go” and highlighting the technology driving AI breakthroughs in mathematics and its potential applications for securing the XRP Ledger.
Tumas will be participating in the Swell event alongside Dejan Cabrilo, staff software engineer at Common Prefix, to discuss “Proof Over Trust: Formally Verifying the XRP Ledger.”
The talk will walk through Common Prefix’s ongoing collaboration with Ripple on formally verifying the XRP Ledger to prove the correctness of upcoming and existing protocols.
The XRP Ledger is implemented in C++ by xrpld and the codebase is already well tested, with a substantial test suite and Antithesis-based fuzzing on top. But tests can only catch the bugs that actually surface in a testing scenario; they cannot show that a protocol invariant holds for every possible input, but formal verification can.
AI takes spotlight
Another segment of the Swell event, ‘What Happens When AI Moves Money?’ on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, will see industry leaders examine the emerging architecture of agentic payments, from new protocols and digital wallets to the infrastructure required to make machine-to-machine payments a reality.
This comes as AI agents are beginning to interact with financial infrastructure and move value autonomously. Speakers for this talk include Massimo Cervesato, Nilesh Dusane, Global Head of Institutional Payments at Amazon Web Services, Henri Stern, Head of Stripe Crypto and Co-Founder & CEO of Privy, and Edward Woodford, CEO and Founder at ZeroHash.
Swell has historically been where Ripple makes its most significant product and partnership announcements, with expectations rising for this key event.
