As XRP remains one of the most targeted crypto assets amid the rising cases of fraudulent schemes, Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz has discovered another potential attack from a major XRP wallet.
In a recent post shared by the Ripple veteran, Schwartz issued a crucial warning to the XRP community after he declared the Xaman Foundation account on X as potentially compromised or fraudulent.
XRP’s major wallet compromised
Although Schwartz did not state the reason for his judgment, he tagged the Xaman wallet X handle, flagging it as a compromised or scam account, while cautioning XRP users about using the wallet.
Prior to his warning, it appears that Schwartz had encountered suspicious posts or announcements from the account that seemed to have been falsely representing the project.
Schwartz’s warning came a few hours after the account, identified as Xaman_FDNT on X (formerly Twitter), published a post announcing that the XAMAN airdrop was live on the XRP Ledger (XRPL).
While the announcement had invited XRP holders, ledger users, and people connected to the XAMAN Wallet to check their eligibility and claim their allocations directly on-chain, most users had expressed frustration about the spam and consistent tags they had received from the supposed airdrop.
Xaman Wallet account gets suspended
Following Schwartz’s alarm about the compromised Xaman account, the XRP community also vented their frustrations about multiple disturbing activities from the flagged account.
While Schwartz’s warning called the account’s credibility into question, it appears that users within the XRP community had reported the account en masse, as the account became suspended a few hours after Schwartz’s post.
