Crypto YouTuber EllioTrades warns that XRP will fall out of the top 10 cryptocurrencies by 2030 if Ripple and the XRP Ledger (XRPL) fail to grow in real-world asset (RWA) tokenization.
In a recent video, he explained that competing blockchains are moving ahead in areas such as digital bonds, stocks and other financial assets. He believes XRP needs more than partnerships with banks to stay competitive. It needs real businesses, investors and transactions using its network.
Why XRP Could Fall Behind
EllioTrades says stablecoins like USDT and USDC have challenged XRP’s role in international payments. Because stablecoins maintain a steady value, they can be more attractive for transferring money.
He also argues that Ripple’s partnerships with banks do not always benefit XRP holders directly. Some institutions use Ripple’s payment technology without making transactions on the XRP Ledger.
His main point is that Ripple’s success does not automatically mean XRP will become more valuable.
XRP Is Falling Behind in Tokenized Assets
Real-world asset tokenization means putting assets such as government bonds, stocks and commodities on a blockchain.
According to figures EllioTrades cited in his video, tokenized real-world assets had exceeded $50 billion across blockchain networks. He argued that networks such as Ethereum, BNB Chain and Solana were gaining ground while XRPL lagged behind.
He also questioned whether some assets counted toward XRPL’s tokenization figures were actually being traded actively. In his view, having assets worth billions of dollars on paper is not enough if few people are buying, selling or using them.
Three Things XRP Needs to Do
EllioTrades believes XRP must make three key changes:
- Attract more tokenized assets. XRPL needs assets that people actively buy, sell and hold, not just large reported values.
- Support developers. Ripple should invest more in projects and encourage developers to build useful applications on the XRP Ledger.
- Bring in major financial institutions. Partnerships with firms such as BlackRock or Franklin Templeton could help attract more businesses and investment, provided their activity also creates value for XRP.
Could XRP Lose Its Top 10 Spot by 2030?
EllioTrades says XRP could lose its place among the world’s largest cryptocurrencies if rival networks capture most of the growth in tokenized financial assets.
However, he is not saying XRP will definitely fail. His warning is that the network needs to show real growth, attract more users and create stronger demand for the XRP token.
The bottom line is that XRP cannot rely only on its reputation for international payments or Ripple banking partnerships. To remain competitive through 2030, it needs more real-world use, active trading and adoption that creates actual demand for XRP.
