NEAR Protocol has announced a developer hackathon focused on AI agents, autonomous payments, and cross-chain applications. Meanwhile, crypto analyst Kaz The Shadow is watching for the NEAR price retracement toward a weekly fair value gap before considering another long position, depending on renewed buying momentum.
NEAR Protocol Announces $250K Developer Hackathon
NEAR Protocol has announced the NEAR HACKATHON, a two-week developer competition running from November 1 to November 14, 2026. The event offers $250,000 in prizes paid in NEAR and invites developers to build applications using the network’s artificial intelligence and cross-chain infrastructure. The initiative focuses on intelligent agents, autonomous payments, and applications that move value across blockchains. Meanwhile, crypto analyst Kaz The Shadow is watching NEAR for a potential bullish re-entry after a previous rally encountered resistance near $6.

The competition does not require advance registration. Participants can work independently or form teams, but they must submit a working prototype, a public repository, and a demonstration post on X. Judging will take place from November 16 to 18, with results scheduled for announcement by November 18 at 23:59 UTC.

AI Agents and Payments Lead NEAR Hackathon Tracks
The hackathon features 13 tracks covering decentralized finance, private AI, autonomous businesses, AI swarms, agent economies, real-world payments, blockchain gaming, and social finance.
Participants can use NEAR Intents, NEAR AI Cloud, Chain Signatures, and other ecosystem tools to develop applications. Potential projects include AI agents that pay for services, automated treasury systems, cross-chain trading applications, and payment platforms.
There is also an Open Innovation track in the competition, which gives developers the opportunity to work outside the given set of categories. The ultimate goal of this track is to foster practical implementations that link together artificial intelligence, digital ownership, and programmable money.
For NEAR, the success of this competition will be measured by how much the developed applications continue engaging users after the competition.
NEAR Price Setup Faces $6 Resistance Ahead
The crypto analyst Kaz The Shadow is watching the NEAR price action for a new entry, at least because he recently closed a position at the top of a previous rise. The analyst explained that the previous move formed a five-wave pattern and a bearish divergence, alongside the $6 resistance level, made a local high.
The analyst will not jump in immediately but will wait for retracement so that the price enters a good buy area. The weekly gap between fair value is another interesting area because the analyst believes that the price will come back to that area before making another move higher.

However, the analyst has not set a specific entry level or stop level. The trading strategy will be determined by the price action of the lower time frames as the NEAR price reaches the expected area.
Weekly Fair Value Gap Becomes Key Area for NEAR
The weekly fair value gap is crucial for the current setup of the analyst. In technical analysis, the FVG refers to a situation where there is a price discrepancy related to a sudden movement in the market. This kind of area may be observed by traders for any possible retest.
If the NEAR price retraces back into the identified region and the buyers’ interest reappears, the analyst may look forward to making another long trade. A lack of stabilization, on the other hand, can jeopardize the suggested setup.
Resistance at $6 continues to be significant as per the analysis. Breaking above this resistance may affect the technical analysis, whereas renewed selling pressure will only continue the correction. The analyst does not seem to have an exact target price on the upside for the upcoming trade opportunity.
What Comes Next for NEAR?
NEAR’s upcoming development milestone is the hackathon kick-off on November 1st, then submissions on November 14th, and judging through November 18th. The quantity and quality of project completion might offer a good initial sign of developer interest, but ultimately more evidence will be needed to gauge adoption.
On the other hand, traders will be looking at whether the NEAR pulls back to the weekly fair value gap and how the price reacts to this level after finding out that there is resistance at the $6 level. The hackathon is one form of development trigger for the coin, although its effect in the market is still unsure.
