The Dogecoin ecosystem is undergoing a commercial restructuring after the Dogecoin Foundation and House of Doge ended their existing trademark licensing agreement. Under a termination agreement effective October 19, 2026, House of Doge must pay $400,000 and stop using the licensed branding by December 31. The move comes alongside the creation of Dogecoin Labs as the Foundation’s new official commercial partner.
DOGE Trademark Deal Ends With a $400,000 Payment
The termination agreement published on Justia confirms that the previous licensing arrangement has ended. House of Doge must pay the Foundation $400,000, either in cash, company shares or a combination of both, subject to the agreement’s payment terms. The payment is intended to settle obligations connected to the former license.
The agreement also requires House of Doge and its relevant entities to change their names and stop using the licensed trademarks by December 31, 2026. The document does not establish that the wider DOGE ecosystem is ending its commercial activities. Instead, it outlines the termination of specific branding and partnership rights, alongside a replacement non-exclusive trademark license.

Dogecoin Labs Takes Over Commercial Ecosystem Development
In a separate announcement dated October 22, House of Doge said it would contribute selected product, engineering and commercial operations to newly formed Dogecoin Labs in exchange for an equity stake.
The Foundation named Dogecoin Labs its official commercial partner under a new agreement. The arrangement brings together MyDoge, Such App and DogeOS with teams working on consumer products, payments and application infrastructure.
Dogecoin Labs aims to reduce duplicated work and help developers build applications for wallets, payments, commerce, decentralised finance and other use cases. Its leadership includes MyDoge founder Jordan Jefferson, DogeOS founder Alex Lewis and DOGE Foundation director Tim Stebbing. Whether the consolidation produces greater adoption will depend on the products delivered and whether users and merchants choose to use them.
House of Doge Shifts Focus to Tokenized Investment Products
House of Doge said the restructuring would lower its operating costs and reduce the capital needed to maintain direct product and engineering operations.
Chief executive Marco Margiotta said the company intends to focus on tokenizing alternative investments and developing value from its strategic sports investments. Its equity stake in Dogecoin Labs also allows it to retain a financial interest in the ecosystem’s commercial development.
The company said its new long-term license preserves its ability to work with 21Shares on the DOGE ETF listed as TDOG, the 2x Long Dogecoin ETF TXXD and a DOGE exchange-traded product listed in Switzerland. It also plans to develop additional tokenized investment products.
These plans create a separate investment-focused path for House of Doge while Dogecoin Labs concentrates on ecosystem products and infrastructure.
DOGE Price Weakness Puts Utility Plans in Market Context
DOGE ’s market performance provides a reminder that commercial restructuring does not automatically translate into demand for the token. CoinGecko’s historical data showed DOGE closing at about $0.0768 on October 25, down from approximately $0.0819 on October 21. That represents a decline of around 6% over four days, although price movements alone cannot establish how investors view the partnership changes.

DOGE also faces the challenge of converting its established community and brand recognition into sustained transactional use. Its ecosystem expansion could create additional reasons to use DOGE if the new applications attract users, merchants and developers.
However, the announcement does not provide adoption targets or evidence that the restructuring has already increased network activity, so its longer-term impact remains uncertain.
