As part of the 2026 collaboration, HEK (House of Electronic Arts) and Tezos Foundation are pleased to announce that Auronda Scalera and Alfredo Cramerotti will serve as the curatorial duo for the first of the two virtual exhibits. The virtual premiere of the show will take place on the virtual.hek.ch platform on June 12th, 2026.

The announcement officially begins the curatorial process for the inaugural show, which will run until mid-August, building on the partnership’s original announcement. Scalera and Cramerotti are renowned for their joint work in institutional and digital environments. They have previously curated Art Dubai Digital and provided advice to organizations and cultural authorities including the Italian Ministry of Culture and the British Council. They will contribute their unique viewpoints to the HEK Virtual Exhibition, emphasizing experimental media art that interacts with cutting-edge technology.

The error serves as the main metaphor and intellectual foundation for their curatorial idea, 404_LAND. The group show brings together artists whose work delves into the hidden and neglected areas of the internet, exploring the possibility of rediscovering these digital interstices inside the organized systems of firewalls, IP networks, and algorithms.

Throughout its length, the virtual exhibition will be available to everyone via a special kiosk located within the HEK lobby, enabling the public to see and interact with the works both inside and outside the museum’s walls. The introduction of related Tezos-based NFTs on the objkt.com marketplace and the virtual opening tour with Scalera and Cramerotti will be another important component of the presentation. In May, the whole curatorial idea and participating artists will be revealed.

“We are genuinely excited to be working with HEK and the Tezos Foundation on what feels like a timely and necessary project. 404_LAND begins where the internet pretends to end. We are drawn to these thresholds, the broken links, the unreachable addresses, the spaces between servers, because they reveal something true about how digital systems exercise power and produce invisibility. This exhibition brings together artists who refuse to accept the error message, and instead ask: what lives on the other side of the wall?” Auronda Scalera and Alfredo Cramerotti, Curators

Tezos is a state-of-the-art blockchain that is energy efficient. Tezos has been utilized by thousands of artists worldwide to produce and market digital art, and cultural organizations such as Serpentine, Musée d’Orsay, and LAS Art Foundation have used it for their creative cultural activities.

Digital culture and the emerging creative forms of the Information Age are the focus of Basel’s HEK (House of Electronic Arts). Since 2011, the organization has played a pivotal role in the critical and creative conversation about the economic, sociopolitical, and artistic implications of media technologies. HEK encourages aesthetic practices associated with information technology as a forum for contemporary art that investigates and uses new technologies. This not only makes it possible to better understand how our world is evolving, but it also allows us to actively participate in these processes, address important issues of 21st-century culture, and actively contribute to their mediation.
