40,000 BTC leave exchanges – How Bitcoin’s Q4 rally setup is taking shape

Unlike whale accumulation, corporate accumulation has much more weight.

The logic is simple: Whales usually buy Bitcoin [BTC] for risk/reward prospects and portfolio diversification, while corporations are adding Bitcoin to their treasury reserves. Therefore, a prolonged period of BTC price decline may considerably hurt corporate finances, stock prices, and the overall market confidence.

On the flip side, sustained DAT accumulation could generate the reverse effect, as it would boost corporate exposure to BTC and add another layer of demand on the asset. Notably, with fresh momentum building around Bitcoin DATs, the Q4 narrative around corporate BTC accumulation may already be taking shape.

To begin with, Michael Saylor has shared an “Orange signal” on X, indicating a possible BTC purchase. This comes as MSTR continues to gain ground, extending last month’s 30% rise with a 20% rally this month.

Along the same lines, Strive CEO Matt Cole has also hinted at the purchase of more Bitcoin. In turn, Strive’s share (NASDAQ: ASST) has been climbing strongly after registering a huge rally of 118% last month with another 21% gain this month.

This matters because a higher stock price gives Strategy and Strive more room to raise capital, and potentially scale their Bitcoin treasuries, which is another channel for structural BTC demand. More importantly, one key metric suggests that this corporate accumulation trend could be laying the groundwork for Bitcoin’s Q4 cycle.

Corporate Bitcoin buying meets bullish macro backdrop

The timing of these corporate signals stands out.

According to CoinGlass, Bitcoin exchange balances have dropped by 40,000 BTC this week alone, taking total exchange holdings to 2.46 million BTC, the lowest level since the mid-May cycle. In essence, available BTC supply is tightening just as corporate accumulation is gaining traction. If this trend continues, stronger DAT demand could further squeeze liquid supply and set the stage for a stronger Q4 move.

Notably, this is where a key metric starts to matter. As the chart below shows, the BTC/Gold ratio is up more than 13% so far this month, extending last month’s 15% rally and taking its Q3 gain to around 37%. This shows a clear shift in relative momentum toward Bitcoin over gold.

With macro volatility building into Q4, this rotation could become an important backdrop.

The key is that companies usually buy BTC with a long-term perspective. Meanwhile, rising stock prices can provide companies with more space to raise capital and expand their BTC holdings. If the macro setup remains bullish for Bitcoin, increased corporate accumulation will likely result in diminished liquid supply, which will set up a strong setup for Bitcoin heading into Q4.

Final Summary

  • Bitcoin supply on exchanges is falling, with nearly 40k BTC leaving exchanges this week as corporate buying picks up.
  • Higher stock prices and a bullish macro setup could support more BTC buying, giving companies like Strategy and Strive more room to raise funds.
