LABT is a clinical-stage biotech with a market cap of just $3.26 million. The stock was trading at $1.86, close to its 52-week low of $1.66, before today’s move.

Nu-3 is part of the company’s Bisphosphocin class of antimicrobials. It is designed to treat mildly infected diabetic foot ulcers.

The key finding: Nu-3 did not induce resistance in a serial passage experiment. That’s a meaningful result for a drug targeting antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

Unlike traditional antibiotics, Nu-3 works by physically disrupting bacterial membranes. This mechanism makes it harder for bacteria to develop resistance through the usual routes.

Lab testing showed Nu-3 was active against bacteria carrying a wide range of resistance mechanisms. These included antibiotic target modifications, direct metabolism of antibiotics, and efflux pump activity.

Bacteria Tested

The testing covered 14 bacterial species. These included E. coli, S. aureus, P. aeruginosa, K. pneumoniae, and A. baumannii — some of the most problematic drug-resistant bugs in clinical settings.

Specific resistance variants tested included vanA and vanB, mecA, rpoB, NDM, ESBL, AmpC, CRE, sul2, and benzalkonium chloride efflux pumps. That’s a broad sweep of resistance mechanisms.

The data also covered PBP2x variants and metal-tetracycline/H+ antiporter resistance. Nu-3 showed activity against all of them in vitro.

Regulatory Backdrop

The announcement follows the 27th Public Meeting of the Presidential Advisory Council on Combating Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria (PACCARB), held June 16, 2026. That meeting focused on the next five-year National Action Plan on Combating Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria.

Nu-3’s data aligns with the goals outlined at that meeting, which set the framework for U.S. government efforts against antimicrobial resistance.

Insider ownership stands at 69.22%, which points to strong conviction from those closest to the company.

There has been no reported insider buying or selling in the past three months.

LABT has not generated revenue and is operating at a loss. Its GF Score is 8 out of 100, with profitability rated 1/10 and financial strength at 4/10.
