What to know:
- XRP Ledger Update introduces five protocol amendments for validator approval in the upcoming xrpld 3.3.0 release.
- Batch and Permission Delegation return after developers fixed security vulnerabilities that previously delayed deployment.
- New features include Confidential MPT, Sponsored Fees and Reserves, and Dynamic MPT to enhance privacy, payments, and token management.

XRP Ledger is scheduled for a major upgrade next week, with five protocol amendments to be considered by validators. With the xrpld 3.3.0 release, there will be changes that come with new features and proposals that had been withdrawn for security reasons before.
As explained by Jazzi Cooper, Head of Product for RippleX, the latest version will comprise Confidential MPT, Batch, Permission Delegation, Sponsored Fees and Reserves, and Dynamic MPT. All these amendments require passage through the governance process of the XRP Ledger to be implemented on the ledger.

XRP Ledger Revisits Earlier Amendments After Security Fixes
The two amendments that have been resubmitted following rectification of their prior security vulnerabilities are the Batch amendment and the Permission Delegation amendment.
The Batch amendment allows eight transactions from various accounts to either all go through or fail. It was introduced before through a validator vote but was subsequently withdrawn due to the discovery of a vulnerability in its signature verification process by Pranamya Keshkamat and Cantina.
The validators were instructed not to implement the amendment, while the developers issued an emergency software patch to prevent it from being implemented. As the feature had not made it into the network, there was no effect on any user funds.
Another amendment, the Permission Delegation amendment, was taken off the list after a bug was found in 2025, which made it possible for one account to pay transaction fees for another account, leading to a possibility of XRP drain.
New Features Aim to Improve Privacy and Payments
The next three amendments add new features to the XRP Ledger. Confidential MPT is an extension of Multi-Purpose Tokens that provides confidentiality through zero-knowledge proofs and encryption so that the transaction details can be known only to the verifying entity.
Sponsored Fees and Reserves enable banks or any other platform to pay the transaction fees and reserve requirements in XRP on behalf of the users.
On the other hand, Dynamic MPT allows token issuers to change certain settings of their tokens, like fees or metadata, without the necessity to create a whole new token.
An amendment will be enabled only after it has been approved by 80% of trusted validators during two weeks in a row. Although the forthcoming update introduces a lot of useful functionality, there is no guarantee of its approval, as some other amendments have yet to meet the voting threshold.
