Silicon Motion (SIMO) shares slipped before Wednesday’s opening bell after posting a strong gain during the previous regular trading session. The stock fell 2.42% to $262.00 after closing 6.75% higher at $268.49, trimming part of Tuesday’s strong advance. Meanwhile, the company introduced new storage controllers designed for AI factories, edge systems, embedded devices, and automotive computing platforms globally.

Silicon Motion expands enterprise storage lineup
Silicon Motion will display five storage product lines during FMS 2026 in Santa Clara from August 4 through August 6. The company will target data centers, enterprise servers, AI computers, mobile devices, industrial equipment, vehicles, robotics, and connected edge products. Its expanded lineup addresses growing storage demands created by real-time inference, cache offload, large datasets, and predictable data access.
The SM8466 enterprise controller uses PCIe Gen6 technology and delivers sequential throughput reaching 28 gigabytes per second for demanding workloads. It also provides seven million random input-output operations and supports enterprise solid-state drive capacities exceeding 512 terabytes for future deployments. Silicon Motion designed the controller for AI factories, large inference systems, data-heavy applications, and future high-capacity storage deployments worldwide.
The company will also present its SM8366 MonTitan development platform for cache offload and large enterprise AI infrastructure deployments. The platform supports U.2, E3.S, and E3.L form factors with TLC and QLC NAND configurations across multiple capacity levels. Available capacities range from 32 terabytes with TLC NAND to 256 terabytes with higher-density QLC NAND storage options.
Edge and automotive products broaden AI focus
For enterprise boot storage, Silicon Motion will highlight NVMe products for servers, networking equipment, processing units, and AI storage nodes. The SM8008 controller reaches 14 gigabytes per second through PCIe Gen5 while consuming less than five watts during operation. The product supports power-efficient server racks that require secure, dependable, and stable boot storage over extended operating periods.
Silicon Motion will also feature two PCIe Gen5 controllers for high-performance AI computers and other advanced edge computing platforms. The SM2524XT delivers 14.5 gigabytes-per-second reads and 2.8 million random operations while operating efficiently without dedicated DRAM systems. The SM2508 provides matching read and write speeds with 2.5 million random operations for demanding local workloads.
The company will extend its display to smartphones, wearables, smart homes, factories, vehicles, robotics, drones, and other embedded systems. Its SM2755 and SM2738 controllers combine fast data access, low power use, and strong reliability for connected edge applications.
