XRP Ledger 3.3.0 Nears Launch After Community Security Review

The XRP Ledger is a step closer to its next upgrade following the completion of a community security review of its future features. The security review was intended to assess the security of several new features slated for inclusion in XRP Ledger version 3.3.0.

This past week, Jazzi Cooper, who is the RippleX Head of Product, revealed more information regarding the imminent release of the new XRP Ledger 3.3.0, with five new amendments.

XRP Ledger 3.3.0 Adds Five New Features

The upcoming release has several updates that will enable increased functionality of the XRP Ledger.

The most important update is the introduction of Confidential MPTs. With the use of zero-knowledge proofs and elliptic curve cryptography, the functionality will provide anonymity for the transfer of Multi-Purpose Tokens (MPTs).

The other notable feature is Batch Transactions. It will allow up to eight transactions of various accounts to be conducted as one atomic transaction.

The update also brings Permission Delegation, which will allow organizations to delegate permissions for transactions without giving away signing permission. This provides more options to organizations in a secure manner.

The update will also bring Sponsored Fees and Reserves, allowing one account to pay the fees and reserves of another. This feature may be useful when welcoming new members to the system.

The fifth amendment, Dynamic MPT, allows token issuers to define which token properties can be updated after issuance, giving projects greater flexibility when managing their assets.

Community Security Review Finds Issues Before Launch

The XRPL Operations account at X claims that all new features to be added to XRP Ledger 3.3.0 have been thoroughly tested by the adversarial community of XRP.

In order to increase the quality of review of the amendment, Ripple worked with the Web3 security firm, Sherlock. They aimed to allow independent security researchers to review the new functionalities before activation.

Five major topics were reviewed, including Batch Transactions, Permission Delegation, MPT DEX, Confidential Transfers for MPT, and Sponsored Fees and Reserves. All of the above features influence transaction processing, permission delegation, decentralized exchange, token confidentiality, fee sponsorship, and reserves, respectively.

Within the two weeks of testing, two critical, six high, twenty-nine medium, and fifty-nine low-severity issues. Ripple rewarded 309,000 RLUSD to all the users who made valid contributions to security reports in all feature categories.

XRP Community Awaits XRPL 3.3.0 Release

Following the launch of XRP Ledger version 3.2.1 on August 1, which acted as a fix after a manifest flood problem was discovered on July 31.

Now that all tests have been conducted, it will be time to focus on XRP Ledger 3.3.0, as it is anticipated that it will implement the new amendments once they have passed through the rest of the approval process.
