What to know:
- Nexo crypto lending launches in Australia with regulated crypto-backed credit facilities.
- Eligible users can borrow AUD or stablecoins without selling their crypto holdings.
- Interest rates range from 0.9% to 21.9%, depending on credit limits and loyalty levels.

Nexo crypto lending has now reached Australia, as Nexo Australia has become a credit representative under the nation’s National Consumer Credit Protection Act. The firm explained that the development makes it possible for eligible clients to get crypto-backed credit facilities without having to sell their crypto.
Customers will be able to use the service to leverage their cryptocurrency assets as collateral and get Australian dollars or stablecoins. This service will be available for crypto owners who need to get liquidity while still keeping their assets.
As reported by Nexo, funds are usually credited within 24 hours, and there are flexible repayment options that do not require the loan term to be specified. There were no origination fees for credit lines.
The interest rates depend on which credit limit is chosen by the consumer and which loyalty level he or she falls under. They range from 0.9% to 21.9%. In other words, they are variable in nature.

Nexo Crypto Lending Offers Two Credit Line Options
According to Peter Stanhope, general manager of Nexo Australia, customers have two choices of credit lines – Smart Credit Lines and Standard Credit Lines. The variations in the two options mainly relate to interest rates, collateral asset type, and management of collateral in cases where there are changes in the borrower’s Loan-to-Value Ratio.
The structure provides flexibility for customers to choose how to take loans against their crypto assets without having to sell their holdings.
But Nexo crypto lending poses potential risks due to the volatility in the prices of cryptocurrencies. The firm warned that the borrowers might receive margin calls should the value of the collateral drop significantly.
Should the LTV reach particular levels, the borrower would be asked to deposit more collateral or lower the balance of the loan. Further drops in the value of the collateral will eventually lead to liquidation, and the borrower will lose their collateral.
The launch places Nexo among the relatively small number of crypto platforms offering regulated crypto-backed credit products to Australian customers.
There has also been some positive development in terms of regulation in the crypto-lending market in Australia in the past few months. For instance, in May 2026, Block Earner became the first crypto-firm to obtain an Australian Credit Licence from the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.
Nexo Australia is also registered with AUSTRAC as a virtual asset service provider and is a member of the Australian Financial Complaints Authority.
This move represents yet another attempt by crypto enterprises to include their products based on digital assets within the existing regulatory framework. In terms of Australian crypto investors, the service offered by Nexo of crypto lending allows users to obtain liquidity while still having their crypto exposed to them.
Nevertheless, one should not forget about interest expenses, loan-to-value ratios, and the risk of being liquidated when borrowing against cryptocurrency as collateral.
